It's a startup web development company and basically I'd be writing reports on trending information to deliver to people trying to build their own website. So SEO, social media, etc

nigga, send a damn physical letter. sound weird? trust me, it works. write a physical letter out thanking them for their time, and either mail it to the office or drop it off so you know it gets there in time.

This will make you stand out IMMENSELY. use good quality paper, not just printer paper. Don't write like an idiot, type it out first to check for typos, then hand write it in after.

Have shitty writing? Take the extra 30 minutes to write like a respectable person. If you make a mistake, get a new sheet, don't cross it out. Use pen.

People get a million emails daily, it WILL be lost. Write a letter, get some props. Hell, give the receptionist cookies with it if you're really worried.

I want more details. What was the job posting's timeframe? Did it have a cut of date? If they're not interviewing for 3 more weeks, you might be rushing things sending it tomorrow. A physical letter would be best, but you don't want to come off nagging them about it.

and have you researched this company? know their history and ins and outs? the script above is simple and to the point, but if you info dropped something in regards to the company you may get more interest since it'll show you know something outside of what your resume says.

so do you "know" this company, done your research? and what is the date range for applications?

The listing was posted a month ago, but it's still up and says "open until filled" and "Starting immediately".
I've researched as much as I can because it's a small, independent start up - the owners were out of silicon valley. It's a great looking thing, really good benefits and seems like it is willing to treat it's employees well
there's not much else to it though, it seems fairly young. They seem to have a few connections to local gaming development companies (casinos, I live in nevada)

if it was posted a MONTH ago, i'd say even though you sent in the resume so recently, go forth and try to get in contact soon. Drop off the letter, and maybe make it a mini-cover letter? like, say the above script, but add something showing you do know this stuff about them without sounding creepy? i'm thinking of an example, but can't come up with one on the spot.

i'd even leave it open ended, like you're interested in this position but maybe mention something about interest in future positions if already filled because you CARE ABOUT THIS COMPANY.

Glad to help. didn't think i was contributing much. i wish you luck with everything, and hope you can organize your letter well. use those university writing skills. and remember to buy thick, quality paper, maybe off-grey or slight tan. another thing that stands out.
