Just be yourself, no one should ever judge you for being yourself. I am an obese person, but I am being myself, so no one should judge me because I am being myself. I am single, but I am being myself, so no one should judge me because I am being myself. I am awkward and have a bad appearance, but I am being myself, so no one should judge me because I am being myself. I do not want to wear a suit to my job as I am being myself, myself wants to just wear boxers and a shirt to the job. I am just being myself. People always tell me to just be myself and everything will be fine. For my entire life I have always told myself that I am myself, that I am being myself, so it is all okay and that no one should judge me because I am being myself. Just be yourself, but now I am beginning to wonder how true that is. It does not matter that I have all of these flaws because I am myself.

1. accept the things you can't change
2. work on the things you can change
3. stop taking pointless shit so seriously. "just be yourself" is just one of those meaningless things people say.

I don't really understand what advice you're asking for, or what you're asking in general.
>>
I agree? For the most part, people are who they choose to be, and if what they are is bad, they ought to change it?
>>
OP, people always want others to say that you're fine just the way you are. Ex: "Oh, I'm fat and ugly" and instead of people saying, "Oh, you're not that fat, you can just exercise and eat healthier," people want them to say, "You're fine just the way you are, just be yourself," which I find to be completely stupid. Then people get all angry about the people who told them to exercise and eat healthier because then it SECRETLY means that they are fat and are unhealthy.

People judge, people will always judge, is it right? no not really. taking just the obese issue many people will see someone obese and automatically assume no will power lazy wont exercise eats crap. In some cases this can be true, in others there may be medical conditions that cause obesity inability to exercise due to disability, or just the complete inability to lose weight even while practically starving themselves. just as there are very thin people that no matter how much they eat can not gain weight. So, yes be yourself, but if you have flaws that you don't like and CAN change them , then do so. because people ARE going to judge you right or wrong. As for wearing boxers and a shirt to a job, if the job requires certain attire, you accepted the job which means you accepted the restrictions of the job, so this has nothing to do with "being yourself"
>>
If "being yourself" = disgusting/lazy/negative for society, why the fuck shouldn't society judge you? Hitler was being himself too, some nigger stealing phones and your racist/sexist uncle are totally being themselves, no problem there.

Feel free to be yourself but other people are free to be themselves too and most will tell you to fuck off. Nobody will adjust to your faggotory unless you give them a good reason to. Don't want to wear a suit to the job? Own the fucking place. Want to be awkward and fat? Be G.RRRRRrrr. Martin. Etc, etc.
>>
People are always going to judge. If someone told you that you should lose some weight and you are obese, as long as they're not being forceful about it but them giving advice on how to lose weight and everything, I don't see how that can be possibly bad for you at all. Unless you want to be a fag and say that you are being mistreated because they are telling you how to lose weight rather than telling you that you are fine as you are. Honestly, that's up to you to decide.

Being yourself is important but so is self control. Sometimes the things we want aren't necessarily good for us. I'm a procrastinator and I'm addicted to pornography. I wish I had a much better work ethic and I think porn is disgusting, but it's addicting. You can argue that your situation is different but it's all the same. Make a change to better yourself. Good luck OP.

Are you happy?
What would be necessary for you to be happy?
Make it happen.

Eh-
You're not taking that saying in the way that it's meant to be taken.
"Be yourself" does not mean "never grow or develop"- change is good and social change that helps you develop in to a healthier, more fulfilled person is good change.

The advice "be yourself" is meant for people who are constantly trying to be something they're not, and isn't growing from it. Like a 19 y/o girl who likes reading books but purposefully restricts herself from reading in public because she doesn't want to look like a nerd.

Also, don't think that people won't "judge you" for being yourself. People WILL judge the crap out of you. But the point is that their opinions should not matter enough to prevent you from growing and pursuing what you love as long as what you love is a healthy use of your time and resources.

Think about furries for example. They're just being themselves- but many have allowed that one facet of their interests to completally consume their lives. It's one thing if you enjoy sports, politics, family, religion, and furry stuff all equally. But when you obsess over something unhealthily- people's judgement of you is justified because you are preventing your own growth. Saying "i'm just being myself" in this case is an excuse. One should not let an interest in something prevent them from expanding their interest and finding other passions.

Also- laziness isn't "yourself".

No one likes to wear suits and work out and eat healthily.
The pride that comes from having that self control is what people like.
Saying that you're being yourself bc you don't feel like getting off your butt and working is nothing more than a poor excuse for a lack of drive and motivation.

And yes, people will judge you if you are essentially a leech on them.

Don't expect sympathy for being yourself. Do it so you can always walk with your head up high because you are not going to make compromises no matter what, not for the pretty girls, not for the popularity, not for mommy and daddy. That's how I see things.

>just be yourself

Sure, get judged and ridiculed by people for being different from them. Don't be surprised when they go passive aggressive on you just because they mock or hate you for being different.
>>
True, but with a catch: before you can be yourself, you have to BUILD a self to be. You were not born with one; nobody is. Accepting that you are not your id/shadow/whatever is the first step.

If people are judging you for "being yourself," it is because they think you have not built a self for yourself: that you are still a slave to your impulses, running the child-psyche we are all born with but must grow beyond. I do not mean to say that this view of you is correct, only that it is what people see. Only you can say for sure whether they are mistaken. Are they?
