The whole world likely won't see your accomplishments. This is an unfortunate reality. But, I have a similar longing as you. Here's what I want to do: I've found a feeling of fulfillment in helping mentally ill children, preferably severely autistic children.
My long term goal: Work up the ranks from ABA therapist, to teacher, to program specialists that cover school districts, eventually opening up a center for severely autistic adults to continue getting care and family support after they are legal adults and public school districts can no longer care. I want to open centers for early intervention as well as after adulthood to help improve the lives of autistic people and their families.
This is not 4chan fedora autism I am talking about. If you have never seen a severely autistic person, don't even go there with insults.
Find what you love to do, find where that area needs improvement, work towards improving it.

The only real difference you can make is on a small scale. Feed the hungry, give shelter to the homeless, donate to charity and so on
Otherwise, creating massive, large-scale change is nearly impossible.
I there is 1 thing evolution teaches us it is that massive change happens over an extensive period of time bit by bit, little by little, and is completely random and up to Nature/the Universe/God.

Thank you, this is very insightful. I can help out locally or make a difference in a few peoples lives. It's very giving to make little kids feel good about them selves, and hopefully have a good development.
There are pleanty of homeless people here, I want to invest in termoses and hand them out to them. Filled with soup or hot chocholate, it shouldn't cost me much.
