I responded to a craigslist gig cleaning an apartment after a party. After emailing a little bit with the guy it seems a little fishy and I'm not sure how to reply. For starters, he wants to pay me 450 which seems way too high. Couldn't professional maids do it for much less? They also want to pay me with some weird check and asked for a lot of personal information. What do you anons think? I will post the emails in the comment.

This is a scam the check will bounce the bank will pay 450$ but then they will see the check is false and you will owe the bank 450$ a similar scam happened to my girlfriend don't do it

450 does seem a little high. maids/janitors often get paid $10-15/h.

I live in LA you know. No one's English is that terrible.
This is literally the textbook scam you see on Craigslist and rental finders. Even the FAQs on those sites will tell you everything in that post is a red flag. This is literally the second most obvious internet scam after the Nigerian prince.
