Should I study Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering?
I would like to make the world a better place.
Civil engineering really.
But do whatever the best balance of being good at something and enjoying it is.
>>17104837
Engineering sucks and the world isn't worth your time. Study art or business, enjoy a hedonistic lifestyle, and watch everything burn
Youll thank me later
>>17104878
I'm finishing a mix of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering degree. I already agree with you.
I've gotten pretty close to a guy I work with but I'm not really sure how he feels. We hang out and cuddle and he seems really into it and the conversation is great but when we text he's pretty quiet. I'm afraid of coming on too strong and annoying him. Wat do? Should I proceed based on what he's like IRL or in texts?
Guys usualy aren't that into texting.
>>17104825
only faggots like texting
>>17104825
You can tell about a person much better in person. I.e., body language, eye contact, etc. With a text one can barely convey humor.
Hi adv, i could use some advice right about now.
I'm 27 years old, I have autism and I work at a hairdressing supply company where i pack suppleis and operate machines that make our products. I'm currently making around 1000 per month in my salary, and the boss said that if I stay there, thats all I'm ever going to make, so theres no chance of getting a raise.
I'd like to be able to make some more money to put aside in a savings account, or to help out my mother who's had a terrible accident and is currently unemployed while she recovers....

What is your work experience?
>>17104765
You should absolutely apply elsewhere. 12000 a year is not a living wage, Iirc that at or below poverty. Have you looked at other packing companies? Esp. In the area? You are in a dead end job, your boss has made that very clear.
>>17104765
Your boss is CLEARLY fucking with you because of your condition
I would look into a social services program that helps disabled people find decent jobs
Hey /adv/
Found this girl on OkCupid that I’m into, unfortunately I’m completely shit at writing an interesting first message and haven’t had much luck in the past. I was wondering if you guys could help me out.
Here’s what I got so far:
>Hey! How’s it going? Names anon, nice to meet you! I noticed that you’re just as much of a binge watcher as I am. I don’t know about you but I take the whole “Netflix and chill” thing too literally.
Anyways I just finished watching Dexter. Awesome show. What did you think of the...

just say
>I like Dexter too, a bit too much if you know emoji emoji.
btw, okcupid is only for fun sex, if you fail, try again.
>>17104767
I thought Tindr was for sex and OKCupid was for people who aren't in any way confident enough or have the face/looks to go on Tindr?
>>17104771
It's uggo-tinder dawg get some
i was interviewed on friday by this gaming company that seemed to really love me and my work, going as far as to say that they were already fans of me. (i'm an artist so yeah)
they asked me to send them an email with some more examples of my stuff and i did so when i got home so i don't forget. i also asked them a couple questions that i didn't get to ask in the interview.
it's tuesday now and i haven't heard anything from them; i know it's technically just day 2 since weekends don't count but i am feeling antsy as fuck.
will...

All you can do is wait. 80% of jobs fall through, you need to keep applying for other places and don't expect a response
>>17104690
it's just that these guys approached me before i even knew they existed.
there was a sort of industry fair that was being held and my stuff was showcased, and they booked a time to meet me.
i knew there were other people they interviewed too, which made their reaction to my work and experience seem so much more positive? like is it common for employers do this kind of stuff only to fall from their words?
but yeah i guess all i can do is sit tight and apply to more places...
If it's eating you up distract yourself man, it shouldnt be long. They'll get back to you when they need to. Don't get your hopes up either though just be encouraged that you got noticed/considered and of you turn them down let them know you're up for any of their future projects or ask them if they know any other company that is hiring. It shows initiative and might land you another job.
Y does my brother feel uncomfortable with me wearing shorts ? They're pj type shorts so i said i we comfortable in them and he said i ws a slut? I don't understand y he has a problem cos im comfortable
Because he sees you in them and wants to have sex with you.
Yeah he might wanna fuck you dude. Whenever guys bring up how the shirts bother them and tell you to change its cause they find it attractive and are bothered by the fact that they find it attractive
You're all fucking stupid, it's her borther you idiots. If you've had a sister and you say her shorts make her look like a slut it's because you don't want your sister looking like a slut.
If i had a little sister that wore shorts too tight and short i'd say, "why are you dressing like a slut, get some respect in yourself"
It's fucking math, what did you expect?
>>17104673
Not to put in a huge amount of time studying to not understand a single thing, then get shit on. Then have to spend double the amount of money to take the class again.
>>17104715
Dude, quantitative reasoning is math for the dumbest moron. You're gonna need to get yourself a tutor if you ever want to pass. None of us will be able to give you some sort of math secret.
>>17104952
I don't know why. Its literally just the same shit as intermediate, except for with stats added in at the end.
What is the best way to get to college with my current situation
Tl;dr I fucked up my gpa (1.8) in community college by dropping out of my whole semester 3 times in a row (20 years old)
So basically something really bad and shameful happened in the very beginning of my senior year. It wasn't a loved one dying or anything so I don't have any real excuse to give anyone. But as a result I couldn't handle school and didn't really care anyway because I was pretty set that I was going to kill myself. I did well in school before that but I just barely...

>Go into therapy for your depression so the cycle doesn't start over again.
>>17104637

You need to learn discipline and structure, and having to pay for your own home and show up to work every day will help build that discipline. Go back to college in a year, or possibly even later than that if you still feel you can't commit to it and do well.
>>17104640
I had been going to therapy for like 2 years but I just can't open up to/trust anyone. I had been seeing one guy for 2 years and even then I would just clam up and couldn't get anything out so I decided to stop going because not only could I not improve the original depression but I couldn't improve how closed off I am either
Is it easier to stop stressing yourself out over other peoples' problems, fix other peoples' problems or simply cut all the unperfect people out of your life?
My family - while not abusive - is a fucking trainwerck disaster. Everything is not one crisis after another, it's multiple crises one on atop of another, constantly, at all times. Seeing my mom cry ruins my week and she does it twice per week, having my sister bitch at me ruins my day and she never stops.
how do I get on with fixing my life when it's full of people who can't fix theirs?
>>17104624
You have no inherent obligation to help your family if they consistently take from you and don't respect you. You have the option of leaving them or distancing yourself from them; it's an extreme measure but it CAN be worth it just to be a new (hopefully more stable) environment. Ultimately your emotions, your actions and even the way you think is affected by the people you're around the most, and if you're really genuinely unhappy then that might be your answer.
It's up to you though, you gotta decide between your morals/obligations/love or your basic happiness as an individual.
you go to alko and get karjala 8%
>>17104653
My family does love and respect me. As a matter of fact they adore me. I've never been abused by a family member who is still present and alive today, and never badly.
Can I really just abandon my family?
What do you guys do when lonely?
Broker up with my gf a month ago and still have periods where I really miss her and get a bit lonely, how to thwart these feelings?
I write fiction. Usually porn. I also smoke a bunch of weed & design board games.
>>17104584
watch movies
>tfw you have watched every movie already for 5 times
>>17104607
Every movie? You've watched every movie 5 times? That sounds unlikely.
Should I be a "wingman" for my friend this weekend? Normally I wouldn't have a problem with it because there's a chance at getting to know a girl's friend, some fun situations, or whatever... But he now has "dibs" on 3 of the 4 girls we'll be hanging out with, plus he's obsessed with some chick he hooked up with from San Diego.
If it weren't for me expecting him to get cranky over it I'd just go and flirt with whoever and let the chips fall where they may, or I'd help him get one specific girl, but sitting there...

The idea of "dibs" is ridiculous. Tell him that you'll come with him, but you're going to talk to any girl you want, because he's your friend and not, like, your employer. You don't have to just let him control and micro-manage all your social interactions. That's stupid. Stand up for yourself
>>17104581
Couldn't have said it better.
>>17104580
LOL.
What is this bullshit? He is claiming all the girls for himself in advance ?
That's really stupid. You are entitled to meet chicks as well ya know.
I just got dumped.
Quite out of the blue.
It was an ldr between Sweden and England.
She said she couldn't handle being in an ldr.
And eventhough I offered to move there, which was very possible for me, she said that we couldn't move in together due to her conservative family.
I guess TL;DR: got dumped for no reason and don't know what to do.
I really did love her.
You can't do anything. You just need to slowly get used to the situation.
Reasons are not so important. I think they can be comforting, but in the end, I doubt that there is a reason that makes it feel especially good to be broken up with.
>>17104541
You make sense.
Thanks.
its pretty hard to sustain a ldr, so there's not much you could of done. Just give it some time and U'll eventually get over her and find someone even better. In the meantime, just find something to distract ur self from thinking too much about her
So, I've decided that I'm going to propose to my longterm girlfriend. Now I need to ask her father for her hand in marriage. The problem is that I have crippling social anxiety. Also, her father lives in a different state. How do I pull this off? Do I do it the next time we're visiting her parents at their house? Do I just find him when he's all alone and approach him or what? I'm nervous as fuck about this, but it's something I MUST do.
My fiance did it as like a profession of his love at a family dinner with his immediate family and mine. My dad had said the gesture of doing it would be nice, but my parents were so thrown off because it wasn't private.
It was very sweet, I dislike how wierd my mom was about it. People can do this however the fuck they want.
>>17104509
You need to pop the question the ball is in your court as to timing.
In person is always best. Make up an excuse to see him, ask him, and then ask her soonish after that.
>>17104509
You don't have to ask him in person. It's ideal if it's feasible, but in the case of someone who lives far away, a phone call is acceptable. If you aren't going to see him until Christmas or something, just make the call. If you're going to see him next month, just wait it out.
/adv/ I need your help.
The thing is, I'm married (pic related) but I'm constantly having, as you might say, "bad thoughts." I'm really into this girl at work and I know that in an instant if I knew I'd get away with it I'd be unfaithful. How do I keep from feeling this way about another girl? I love my wife but I can't help thinking about this other girl.
>TL;DR how do I keep myself from cheating on my wife?
>self bump for advice
>>17104483
With self control? Jesus Christ man, you shouldn't have gotten married if you can't even keep up the border between thoughts and actions.
Do you just want sex? Or a relationship?
First time car crash (Pic related)
What's "good"
>Both parties have insurance
>No injuries
>No ticket, just warning
>Both parties negligent
What's bad
>Damaged engine
>No collusion insurance
What to do?
Who hit whom?
>>17104456
>Both parties negligent
>>17104455
If you agreed both parties are negligent and police now have it on file you just gotta pay for repair yourself. This is why accidents are such a pain in the ass.
>>17104455
