The artist who made those pages was going by the name "Endpiece" at the time. Currently he uses "Bellend," or "bellend08." I actually sent the artist a couple messages asking about that comic a while back. Mind control isn't his thing, he just thought it might make an interesting opener (and I think he did a damn good job of it). From what he said he started rethinking his script after putting out the first four pages, and after rethinking it for long enough he just lost momentum, got more pressing things, and eventually lost interest. It's too bad, but what'cha gonna do?

Marvel always kept changing their minds about who's who's children, even Spiderman was a father once or twice, they didn't want to set in stone any relative perceived age for any character but different writers kept screwing up and pushing their own ideas. It's not really in the writer's power though because once the readership gets an idea in their heads that becomes the character's only acceptable narrative.
