Depends on the artist and the drawing and how much I'm paying.
Right now the method I use goes for about 1-3 months, which is shorter than many pics I've had done. The sketches get done, then the inks and then the color. Each artist takes a bit to work through their queues/day job schedules and get to my work. Mindwipe is the fastest; I give him a job and he does it when I want it done. That can be as short as a few days if he's not too queued up. One particular artist demanded payment in advance and I had to badger the individual for over a year to give me the damn picture I paid for. I'm never hiring that individual again and I regret having their work in Overwhored.
During the days of Overwhored 4-6 months was not unusual. When you can't pay too much stuff gets done slowly. I still don't have enough money to pay people to do stuff RIGHT NOW, but I do have enough that I don't have to go that slowly. But I have about four full pictures to get done before the next release. I'm not certain how long it will take the artists to do it; this is why I cannot give a release date. I've given skilled and responsible people the job. All I can do to speed them up is wave money at them and sit in every stream they do to give them an unnerving cat-stare.
Unrelated to anything I've said have a picture I drew a while back of Waluigi getting banged by Nigel Thornberry. This will ensure very few people actually read this post and allow the fact that I have so little control over the speed of production to be ignored.

There's quite a few optional sex scenes that are easy to miss. That particular one is the Mayor's Daughter you rescue under the mansion in Bilbao. She takes over the city to rule for you after you take out Bilbine. You'll see it if you revisit the city and talk with her.

That's what it takes, dude. If you can't do everything there is to do about game design yourself you have to hire people. And if you don't have the money to hire everyone full time you have to hire people on commission. And commission work is sloooooooooow as fuck.
When push comes to shove I can do basically everything else. I'm trained as a writer so that's easy, but in a pinch I can do simple programming, spritework, etc. I can even force myself out of my normal state of "don't talk to other human beings for several months in a time" to go shill for my game in places.
But I can't do the artwork. I can draw a little bit but I'm nowhere near as skilled as the people I hire. People wouldn't pay for a game drawn by me like they do for the work I do now. Plus art is extremely time consuming and difficult, at least for me. I'm not a natural artist. I have to work really, really fucking hard to draw anything and scrap 9/10 things I draw because they're too low quality to show anyone. If I truly tried to take on everything myself I could do it but by god I'd kill myself in the process. Unless everything falls apart and I absolutely, positively HAVE to do it then I won't.
Patience is a lot easier. What drives me nuts isn't me having to wait, though. It's you having to wait. I hate making the fans wait more than anything. I just don't have a choice - I don't have enough to hire anyone full time. That's why I want to get sleepymaid as a full time artist. That way I know it'll get done fast and on time and we have a good working relationship. Plus we're best friends!
That said I don't regret having Home Invasion being done by the artists doing it. They're great people. It's the fault of the system more than anything else.

Playing Legend of Queen Opala Origins after a long time, in beween where I've played both Noxian Nights and Overwhored, I like to say that holy fuck this game is slow.
You can't run indoors and even out the run button is buggy as fuck. Slowness is one thing in videogames I really hate, unless it's done really well and is central for the game's design, but otherwise fuck going slow.

College, though I had my start well before that (won a few little public writing contests while I was in highschool) and have some SFW work published. I'm by no means some kind of secret big writer or something, I'm very much a no-name. I've always had the talent but not the motivation to make it my primary job. I've written a few novel length stories but they're not high enough quality to publish (in my opinion, at least). I don't feel like I have the... endurance for novels, I guess you could say. Short stories and Novellas are things I can do very well and have had published here and there but there isn't any real money in them. Full length novels are just not my forte and that's where the money is.
Writing for videogames is significantly easier than writing books so I don't have the same issues with length in games. In a lot of ways you could say I've always been searching for the right niche for my writing and videogames seem to be it.
I think I have a lot of the same issues my favorite author Clark Ashton Smith has. Though you don't need a thesaurus to read my work I'm obsessed with adding tons of rich detail that wears me out in long stories. Video games provide a lot of stuff that takes care of the little things and allows me to focus on primary plots. I don't have to describe appearance if you can see it for instance and I don't have to describe backgrounds if you can see them either. If I want to add little hints that a character is Jewish for instance I can have the artists add small details to the background instead of finding clever ways to subtly indicate that in the writing without saying it directly. Having artists allows me to say an immense level of stuff that wears me out trying to work into traditional stories. I get to just focus on things like dialogue and a bit of narration - incredibly simple stuff.
