There is no singular appeal. To some it's a clothing fetish like how some people are into latex or rubber. For some it's ageplay, and within that, for some the ageplay is non-sexual.
There are a few different ways to go about the messing. I'm in a similar boat to >>585696 and >>585693 in that I don't inherently find scat good, at all. But for me it's the fantasy, in which it's an accessory to the ageplay. It's a great teasing vector and my little says the IDEA of it makes him feel like an extremely embarrassed toddler.
And for these situations where it's the fantasy, there are workarounds - because the smell and cleanup can be a big turnoff for some people and not worth the trade. So some use oatmeal to replicate a desired texture, and you can make it smell pleasant to boot.
