In defense of Vera, her husband essentially trapped her in the town and stopped her from seeing the world by accidentally knocking her up (he was trying to get her to stay before that, but that probably wouldn't have worked). Whether or not he knew he was gay at the time isn't clear, but what seems to be clear is that Vera sees him as using her and Alfie as his mask while he fucks other guys. She gave up her life on the outside to take care of his kid and found him cheating on her after Alfie was born.

He thinks that if she just finds someone else they can have their happy family that fits in with the village ideal while philandering on the side. Neither the parents know anything about their daughter who has learned to put up a facade to her parents and the villagers.
Vera's had her best years taken away caring for a child she loves deeply but still has irrational resentment for. She cares for Derik but feels hurt and used by him.
Each time they all have interactions together as a family someone is holding something back or lying about something. That shit aint healthy. They'd all be happier if they could be honest with each other, but the village they live in aint about people living honest, but according to the "values" they have.
They all need to GTFO that place but Derik is a townie and wants that facade, he's satisfied as long as he can maintain that. Vera never could which is why no one likes her, she breaks the facade. Alfie has learned to survive by acting like her dad, but she's more like her mom in what she wants from life.

No, anon, it doesn't work that way. Amethyst and Sadie are both roughly around (or under) 4 feet tall canonically, making them fall into the correct height category. They have pronounced thighs and chests (well, not Amethyst's chest, but fanartists always change it so whatever), which seems to be a common trend for shortstacks, so there's also no problem there. So unless halflings, goblins, and dwarves are not allowed here anymore, and only your weird and specific 3-foot tall balloon fetishbeasts are now considered shortstacks, your complaint is invalid.
