I don't know the exact differences between all those programs either; I think it comes down to personal preference and what you're aiming to use the program for. Another free and popular 3D program is Blender.

Hmm, well with a computer like that its probably gonna take some time for you to render images. Im kinda messing around with DAZ3D myself in my spare time, you can get some decent results with it I think, and assets for it are easy to pirate. If I remember correctly, you can also use any of those assets with 3DSmax and similar programs. Im absolutely not an expert on this, but if you just wanna make images of girls fucking etc with not much fuss then DAZ3d is probably your best bet. Being good at photoshop also helps.

I thought finding a good nude mod for the 2013 Tomb Raider would be simple, but there are so many God-awful ones to sort through that I don't know where to find actually quality. It's astounding how many people are satisfied by just pasting some pepperonies over her top.
Ideally the mod should keep the dirt and scratches in place like in the pic, the ones that clean her up are completely immersion-breaking. Some light pubes to demonstrate being stranded for days would be a plus.

The biggest problem with that game is that the base clothing is modeled into the body mesh. The crotch and butt will never look right unless the mesh is modified. Unfortunately the only way to mod the game is with Umod and Umod only supports textures. It's possible to a little shape changing by modifying the normal files, but it's really difficult and there's only so much you can do that way.
The author of Umod implies that it should be possible to modify meshes the same way textures are modified, but extending Umod requires some very specific programming knowledge which I don't have.

If you don't need the whole sexlab experience, you can have a lot of fun with pre-made waifus from Nexus or tesgeneral.com. Add FNIS and Halo Poser and have at it.
To build your own waifu add SKSE, Racemenu, Bodyslide, a texture mod, hair mods and Racemenu precache killer. Throw in a few armor mods and you're good for screenshooting.
Use a mod manager like NMM or Mod Organizer to make it easy.

Yeah, Iray is probably gonna be pretty slow on CPU only. I got 2 fairly powerful GPUs so a scene like what you posted would probably take 2-3 minutes tops. You could try the Reality 2.0 plugin, saw it floating around on kat. I think its faster on CPU only than Iray is, plus it gives very good results for very little effort. It doesent convert some iray materials properly though.
