It's not really styled after VNs but it has things that resemble those. I have never played any Japanese VNs. My background is more crpg and western stuff.
Stuff the game has:
-Proper visual interface and graphics
-RPG mechanics
-A battle system
-Dialogue and attribute checks
-Inventory and an avatar "paper doll" to dress up
-Choices and consequences
-Open world free roam map with places and encounters
This all works and have been working for half a year now. The thing I'm doing now is the dialogue and environment/character art, the actual "content".

The Looma relationship and the way it was handled was very odd even by cartoon show standards.
