I'm pretty sure it was the most successful ever, and his patreon is also quite successful. But if you want to follow that formula the most important step is to build a fanbase by doing it for free first and getting your name out there. Working in a community like this or creating your own is probably a good plan, but allowing that community too much free reign over your project can lead to problems with the game similar to those that COC and TITS have.
For an example of the conditions I mean: I feel like the FC dev could probably pull of a similar jump to paid porn if he continues to grow his following. (And I've never even played his game.)

You know, the layout and artwork got me to thinking. I used to play an old RTS from 2000 called Sacrifice. Long story short you played a wizard who summoned minions to fight other wizards and their minions, it was a sort of hybrid RTS/third person battle arena game.
I wonder if it'd be possible to convert those mechanics to a 2D platformer and make a porn game out of it. You play a sorceress/shaman/oracle/girl with skimpy clothes and magical powers, and you summon male minions who are out to kill the enemy's minions and rape the other magical girl. Porno RTS?
