Naruto: Chunin Exam - probably my favorite tournament showcasing how great the side characters are instead of other tournament arcs where only the main character and antagonist really have importance

One Piece: Alabasta - people will argue that Arlong Park/Skypeia/Eneis Lobby/Marineford are the best but this one is the one that combined the world-building raising of stakes elements of the latter arcs with the self-contained crisis of the former ones best of both world

Dragon Ball: RR arc - Another best of both worlds it has everything that anyone liked of DB that other arcs had some but not all. Want dramatic action sequences? RR had that. Light-hearted gag humor? RR had that too. New likable characters? RR, Old characters being useful? RR. Dynamic fighting where MC has to change his strategies? Power-leveling where the MC goes and curb-stomps his enemy? Hell the series even has great anime filler of Goku just traveling the world having adventures (that actually fits with the manga's timeline). RR basically is everything DB is, was, and will be.
>>
Bleach: First arc - the first and the SS arc are basically the SMB3 and SMW for me. Though I liked the SS more I have to admit that it's a major step down from the first arc. It kinda felt like what battle shounen probably should've been. The next step after the DB clones where it's directed by the likability of the characters rather than the power-ups and powerlevels which Bleach became in the end. Would've liked a self-contained story where Fisher was the main antagonist at the end

HxH: Chimera ant arc - kinda a toss up between this and York New arc, York New was probably better in terms of stakes and characters but the creativity of this arc influenced my decision too much. An arc all about what it means to be human. Xenomorphic races who "get stronger with every race they eat/assimilate" is a common sci-fi cliche nowadays, but since complex concepts like love, loyalty, compassion, family, etc are a bi-product of our intelligence and they take our intelligence in their assimilation then wouldn't they also take those concepts since it's hard to imagine one without the other. and of course Netero and Gon showing the darkside of humanity contrast to Mereum just getting used to the lighter sides of it ensues that HxH is not your typical battle shounen.

Black Swordsman
Golden Age
Lost Children
Tower Of Conviction
Millenium Falcon
Fantasia

Sea God
Boat Arc
Falconia

You are right, but somehow the Berserk wiki fold certain arc into a big one. Like the entire boat is the Sea God arc/Fantasia or whatever.

Osaka arc. Final arc was also pretty awesome when Cherry Boy when full Tetsuo.
>>
>>140922181
Romance series usual have arcs as in new girls, or focus on said harem side girl. Is jarring and boring since only the main girl will win anyway.

Aku no Hana, the second half where the MC NTR the asshole to get best girl I guess, if I had to pick, but it was a coming of age story.

A pure romance pick would be Moteki, every fucking arc is 10/10 heart break, but the slut arc is the best.

What famous battle shounen haven't you read yet?

on my backlog there's still:
Jojo
Pokespec
the entire DB manga

Osaka arc was great for showing real despair, the fear of an overpowerful alien making mincemeat out of badasses. But it lacked Kurono, so it will never be at the top for me. Oni arc is when Gantz was at the top for me. Kurono being a real leader for the group, teaming up with everyone to fuck the lighting alien really made the series.

Is a little slow, the new MCs (girl and a boy) haven´t shined yet, Nishi and fakenigger are the star players. The first mission are zoo animal aliens. But I will tell you this, is better than the last invasion arc. I like it enough to continue.

>>
>>140922858
They aren´t entry level because instead of making you hungry, they can make you lose your appetite for being too much too fast. You don´t go from watching Naruto to see a guy with a big sword fuck a demon women and then proceed to kill her, or the said guy being raped by a nigger some chapters later. You don´t go from watching HxH to reading about a girl being forced to watch her mother being raped by a gang of vagabonds. You don´t go from wacky One Piece to weird as hell Doro.

You take easy to digest, but fulfilling meals like Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, GTO, D.Gray Man and so on. Then when you want more, you will find the real heavy good stuff.

Stop being pretentious. Berserk is very entry level. Not entry level would be starting to read Junji Ito.

>Not knowing the meaning of entry level
Required/recommended read for people that are new to the hobby, because watching Wyald having fun with killing the father and fucking the mother and daughter to death is going to be a great start for a baby.

Berserk is a masterpiece, it should be read, but not as your first manga(s).

You underestimate the entry level reader's ability to enjoy quality works. If westerners can enjoy quentin tarantino they can enjoy berserk.

You´re missing the point here. People that have read Berserk, for a majority of them it was never their first manga. They read the real entry-level stuff, fucking Death Note, Naruto, Bleach on sites like Onemanga, magazines like SJ. After they got their fill of courage, friendship and hardwork, They consumed any random shit that they would find. That way, they get a taste of good and bad. How would you know what is good and what is bad if you never experienced any of it? There is a reason why a kid reads the kid stuff that runs in SJ, then when he gets older as a teen get to the series serialized in seinen magazines. You don´t fucking swim in the ocean when you haven´t tried the pond. Basic progression.
>>
>>140923920

>>
>>140923946
I'm just going to interject and say that Berserk was one of my first ten manga and my first seinen, and it didn't put me off at all. Also, you didn't seriously just label Death note as courage, friendship and hard work, did you? That shit's become entry level precisely because it appeals to teen edgelords.

Because they're too young to appreciate the subject matter. There's nothing stopping them from reading seinen magazines other than their shit tastes.

And as I said, if you read Berserk as a kid and enjoyed it, kudos to you I guess, is just not the norm. That's not about manga, though - plenty of people are used to gore outside of manga, even at a young age. I also still don't see how reading Naruto is supposed to prep you for gore or something.
>>
>>140924697
Right, running away now are we? Is fine, go back to your mature drawings now.
>>
>>140924901
If you're a twenty something year old male and you have a friend or colleague the same age as you there's absolutely no reason to suspect that they can't handle a bit of violence. People consume media other than the manga you recommend to them, it's quite patronizing to assume they need to be "eased in".

its different. it will be held by different standards. gore in vidya, is different than in movies. anime, or even literature. same thing with sexuality

the only reason 50sog sold was because everyone was already a disgust sodomite degenerate, and it appealed to their already laid fantasies

It would be running away if you actually responded to anything I said. I'm still here waiting for you to explain why you (in your opinion) think that manga needs to be recommended in a certain order, which you keep asserting over and over.
>>
>>140925110
It isn't different, you just want to make manga a special exception for no reason. Gore is gore, either you can tolerate it or you can't.

Reading entry level manga is not suppose to prep you to find a character shoving his hand into someone´s ass and drag out the graphical detailed intestines while fucking his eye socket as paypack. Reading entry level manga is suppose to give you a thirst for more, a appreciation for reading/seeing something different. And now when said guy do find the manga where with the ass shoving, and eye fucking, he might appreciate that the author might try to convey how much anger the dude has. Instead of "oh wow, this is gross, haha, kind of stupid, is all manga this stupid and shock for shock´s sake?" and maybe, maybe instead go "Damn, I can understand why he did that, is disturbing, but I am fascinated".

tl;dr: Preps you to appreciate the more "mature" stuff
>>
>>140925264
>this whole post
You have to either have autism or zero experience with media/cultue beyond manga. This is ridiculous.
>>
>>140925264
>Reading entry level manga is suppose to give you a thirst for more, a appreciation for reading/seeing something different
Entry level manga is supposed to get you to see that manga is good, nothing else. If the manga with the ass shoving and eye fucking is really really good then there's no reason not to recommend it to someone who wants to read a good manga.

i can tolerate Conkers BFD, its funny

now watching Rambo was bad

i will even go as far as to say I shouldnt have seen Akira as young as I did. I didn't like it, and the mutation scene at the end was nightmarish

as an adult, I love Akira, and have been conditioned to other things

It doesnt really matter

>>
>>140925205
In case you don´t know, that is a different anon. Anyway, gore is not gore, that is narrow minded thinking. Maybe for you it is all the same. But a lot of people perceive gore depicted in different media differently. Seeing video game violence is not the same as real gore, nor drawn gore combined with words. Again, it might be for you, but don´t be nidicolous to think everyone have the same standard of tolerance for all the different kind of gore.
>>
>>140925381
>entry level manga = manga for kids
Just stop posting. If you're not trolling the shit out of me there's no reason to drag this any longer.
>>
>>140925415
Gore is perceived differently depending on the medium but ultimately the effect it has on your mind is the same. If you're immunized against level 7 movie gore then you're also immunized against level 7 video game gore (and probably 8 and 9 since video game gore has a weaker effect by comparison). This is what I meant by gore is gore, your tolerance level is the same because if you can handle brutal shit you can handle brutal shit, that's just your static personality.
>>
Berserk is entry level. Akira is entry level. Vagabond is entry level. Fucking Elfen Lied was the entry point for some of the most insufferable thirteen-year-olds ever to grace weaboo-dom. Violence and gore are not particularly big barriers on a general level.
>>
>>140925363
I don´t know you, but I can say that for a kid, Naruto was quite the good read. But you read Berserk at young age, so you´re a special case, praise to you. But again, for most people, Naruto was fucking great for a kid in my time, and it still is seeing kids still love it. So yeah, entry manga, Naruto, make you see manga as good.

And you´re without a doubt a retard. Even if I found ass shoving to be great, only a fucking retard would go and tell a fresh reader to go for it.
>>
>>140924622
Is it hard to tell your friend using English words that manga has a broader range of audience and covers more genres compared to comic books?
>>
>>140925426

no one even said that, except hardcore henry>>140925616

me telling you how I felt about Akira, was just real shit, and I wouldn't count it as entry despite hella people seeing it as kids due to its commercial appeal

I wouldn't have gotten berserk if I hadnt been conditioned to other things first. the rape that happens in the beginning is off putting, and can mentally "shame" guts from being "cool" to normies

like i said bro, it doesnt even matter
>>
>>140925616
Maybe because Elfen Lied have cardboard characters that would die cartoon deaths? How competent violence is handled is what differs the works.

I'm not the guy who read berserk as a kid, good job on your reading comprehension. Berserk was one of the first manga I read though, and I can tell you I had a blast reading it even with very little experience of the medium. Even despite all the darkness I had lot of fun and I would recommend it in a heart beat. If you were my friend and my age and you wanted to get into manga I would definitely not waste your time with Naruto.

>Even if I found ass shoving to be great, only a fucking retard would go and tell a fresh reader to go for it.
How would you know that? You know nothing about this hypothetical manga, it could be the greatest work of art of this generation. Think how good it has to be in order to contain ass shoving and still be great, why would there be a problem with recommending it to an adult friend, as long as you warn them that it contains graphic content?

Part 3 was full of plotholes, more so then other parts, powers are instantly forgotten about, dio's purple hermit, all of kakyoins powers, star platinum getting various items from well away from its range.
And the first half of SDC is good besides those parts and one or two stand users who were boring. The egypt arc is a slow grind though, with the stand users either being really good (like second d'arby, dio, vanilla ice, anubis, petshop) or really bad (that bitch who had the electrical outlet stand, first D'arby, oingo boingo)

The characters were really boring too, Polnareff is the only interesting character, iggy maybe near the end. Jotaro is more vanilla then fucking Kenshiro, Joseph was a shell of his former self and only good for the anime where his engrish was funny, Avdol was always pretty boring, and Kakyoin is super boring and never does anything.

I'm not saying other parts don't have plotholes just part 3 is full of them.

Its not the worst part by any means (that'd be 1 or 5), but really over part 7, 2 or 4?

Sorry if I sound mean I just really don't know how part 3 can be your favourite and want to understand

part 3 is super cool.
I love the concept of the quest to find DIO, redoing the silk route and giving a little slice of every country's culture and sights. It had a lot of goofs (like all that shit with toilets). It had that cute stray girl who got felt up by Jotaro. It had the ominous presence of DIO in the background throughout the story. I guess it's only natural that it felt sort of disjointed and almost improvisational, bt to me that's what JoJo it's all about that said, SDC is my least favorite, though
>>
>>140927590
Like part 3 is certainly great and I love it, its just flawed as fuck.

and i'm fine with araki's not over arching plan, but part 3 was really bad with how bad he forgot everything.

Dark Tournamet is alright but you never feel like much is at stake and it does feel pretty dated after a while.

Chapter Black is where YYH really shines, the mystery is interesting, the fights were very creative, the characters felt unique. There was a real sense of dread, of something very, very bad about to happen, minus the no yusuke your the demons asspull it's the best thing Togashi has ever written.

Why would you recommend people to read what is considered the best manga as their first read? Everything else they read will seem like shit in comparison, also I read the entirety of Junji Ito's worl before I read berserk, around 7-8 years ago, you sound like a filthy casual normie to me.

I somehow hadn't realized it went on an almost continuous decade-long hiatus but it just hit me, I'm glad it still remains popular tho, so much it's getting new animated material every few years, but I still fear if Miura doesn't resume a semi-regular publication schedule people will just lose interest in it.
