You have pretty good taste, a lot of classics which isn't really unexpected.

But your thread is either going to die or be shitposted to death, considering most people sadly haven't even watched a single one of them.

>>138960094
>5. Grave of the Fireflies (Takahata, 1988)
Watch it again, it's trash.

>13. Band of Ninja (Oshima, 1967)
>14. Ocean Waves (Mochizuki, 1993)
>16. Bakumatsu no Spasibo (Dezaki, 1997)
Just no. I won't read the rest.
>>
>>138960195

>>
>>138960205
I'll start:
>44. Innocence (Oshii, 2005)
>60. Ghost in the Shell (Oshii, 1995)
>>
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and K-on the movie where?
>>
>>138960205
No, it'll be shitposted to death because /a/ is not the place to post the favorites list you made for a school project and ask for help on it, you fucking idiot.
>>
You are Umasou
Colorful
Redline
TekkonKinkreet
Do you remember love?
>>
This is not the place to post this bullshit.
>>
>>138960094
Some of these aren't even anime.
>>
>>138961157
>TekkonKinkreet
It's already on the top 100 list - but thanks anyway.

>Colorful
>Redline
>Do you remember love?
All of three are already added to my starting 100-150 list, but thanks

>You are Umasou
I haven't seen this one yet - the main reason its because it reminds me a little of movies like Ponyo, Stormy Night and some disney movies about dinosaurs that now I don't recall the name, and the whole premise and aesthetic seems a little played out by now. I'll check it out though. Much appreciated.
>>
lol no one care commit sudoku pls
>>
What kind of project involves listing your favourite anime movies, anyways?
>>
>>138960915
>>>/a/
>>
Lots of varied anime but some really questionable choices.
>tfw I've only seen 72 of them
>>
>>138960094
You seem to like Oshii so maybe the Patlabor movies.
>>
>>138961341
Funnily enough I double checked every entry on the list and while some of these I myself find debatable - notoriously, the movies not made in Japan, from the chinese brothers Laiming (not arguing their absolute masterful quality - as a matter of fact I'd be sad if they weren't considered anime and I wasn't be able to put them in this list), and also the korean entries like The King of Pigs and Oseam. But they are all considered anime. I guess the term is now used to denominate generally asians animations that may have some sort of connection to japanese school of animation. The japanese directed and produced Belladonna of Sadness resembles very little a traditional anime - to a less attempt viewer it could easily pass off as a eastern european arthouse animation. But it's firmly labeled as one, it's just as anime as any other japanese animation.

Go figure, this crazy world.

Cowboy Bebop: Knockin on Heaven's Door
>>
>>138962075
I prefer to keep this in secret.
>>
>>138962689
Widely accepted definition of anime is a nationalistic one, not stylistic. Animation from Japan is anime, otherwise it's just animation. Also you're missing some classics, but this is really more of a /wsr/ thread, therefore sage.
>>
>>138960094
Paprika 65
Porco rosso 43
I'm italian but fuck you this is bullshit
>>
>>138960094
I don't see End of Evangelion, destroy your house please
>>
>>138964202
That's generally the definition that the not very informed westerners utilize, but japanese people actually prefer to call anime any sort of animation. But again, subjectivity is another complicated thing. We'll have many debates on this. The origin of the term anime is very debatable as well.

And why are you announcing your sage? That's against the rules. This is not a request thread as much as a "sharing my thoughts" thread. You are both reporting an innocent thread and breaking the no announcing of sage rules. Please, be civil.
>>
>>138964497
I like End of Evangelion, but I think it doesn't hold a spot among the 100 best...this list is already very stacked with quality titles. I really tried to squeeze in at least 5 movies that I really liked but unfortunately that's not possible.

Extending the list to 150 will fix this problem though.
>>
>>138964666
Then why not extend it to all animation? It's not an uninformed opinion, in Japan it's a colloquial expression which means animation, elsewhere it refers to stuff originating from Japan. You're picking a weird middle ground without using either rigid definition. Also lurk more if you can't understand why this thread's no good.

Is this supposed to be some kinf of joke?
>>
>>138964666
>>138962689
>But they are all considered anime.
According to whom? Besides Japan, I mean, because they consider the Rugrats anime.
>>
>>138964886
It is! At #72. I think it's a good movie.
>>
>>138965077
Ah, you misspelled it as Tororo so I didn't find it.
>>
Haven't seen a lot of it, but seems like a good list.
Never heard of the first one ever. Is it that great in your opinion?
>>
>>138964811
Because subjectivity, as you can see, it's a difficult idea to grasp for some people.

If we go by the standard definition of anime, straight from the dictionary, we'll have to accept things like the following description like the requirement for a cartoon be considered as anime.

>a Japanese style of motion-picture animation, characterized by highly stylized, colorful art, futuristic settings, violence, and sexuality.

Now obviously with descriptions this vague it becomes hard to define anime. I've seen people calling Avatar an anime. Well it could be. But the criteria used for this list is the one that considers all animation made in asia that share certain similarities with the japanese school of animation as anime. Think about orientalism. We can settle with "only animation made in japan" is anime but obviously that makes no sense - you may as well abolish the term and consider all cartoons cartoons. As I explained, this world is too complex, with too many questions and not many answers.
>>
>>138965996
I get the feeling you're a film or animation student who just wandered into /a/ for the first time.
>>
>>138965693
It's different, but not in the way you are expecting. I'm aware that otaku will not be able to watch it.
>>
>>138964803
>>138964803
Dead Leaves has nothing to do on that list.
>>
>>138966051
I'll take that as a compliment.
>>
>>138966627
It's not. You're leaking new from every pore and it's the only explanation I can come up with for how that could be possible with a list like this, unless you're actively shitposting.
>>
>>138966512
Dead Leaves is an interesting movie. What do you have against it?
>>
>You have already reported this post, or someone with your IP has already reported it.

>>13896669
You are just not used to my writing style and my ideas, so I guess I'm new to you, in a sense. But I don't post very much on /a/, especially not on mobile device.
>>
>>138966682
It's stupid, ugly, and full of grade schooler jokes. I don't know how you can rank it higher than Redline for example.
>>
>>138960094
Cool top 100, subscribed. Have you considered reposting on MAL?
>>
>>138960094
>Symphony in August
>6.84
wow good list
>>
>>138967411
I think Dead Leaves is a burning ride, very esoteric and the art is absolutely grotesque and usunual. And that's what makes it so awesome to me. It's unrestrained craziness and vulgarity is part of its style and charm. I can watch it and always find something in it to like and interpret. I am aware that it's not for everyone (like many titles in the list I suppose). I think it's a clever little movie.
>>
>>138967657
I don't like these anime sites but I've seen the section of TrueAnime on reddit. I think it's fine, a little desolated place though. The audience for indie/drama and arthouse anime, or serious anime for lack of a better term, seems to be extremely niche! But I have no problem with that.
