A friend of mine told me to check out this series called Spirit Circle. I Just marathoned through it this weekend, and was wondering if anyone's read it or knows of it. It's got some problems, but overall it was a pretty interesting read.

That's a damn shame, I only heard about it a few days ago and it looks like its near concluding. I would honestly recommend checking it out, its got some pretty far-out concepts.
Basically it's about this kid who meets this girl who absolutely despises him and wants to kill him despite never meeting him before. The both of them have apparently been reincarnated multiple times throughout their lives, and in most of them have killed each other in brutally violent ways. The series is about him reliving his past lives and seeing just what the hell caused this life-spanning blood feud.
It has a nice mixture of fun slice-of-life anime humor, tear-jerking drama, and fucked up violence.

When I first started it I honestly thought it would go the Bleach or YuYu Hakusho route. Like, they would clear up their differences and go around solving mysteries and putting spirits to rest. The direction it went took me by surprise.

And even that's ending soon. It also had a pretty clear direction for awhile, after the kind of muddy opening, though it's certainly the most normal shonen battle shit of his works.
Biscuit Hammer was much the same way. Mizukami just seems to know how to pace and when to end his works.

Mizukami seems to have a firm hold on pacing and ending his stories, although it is unfortunate that it seems both Sengoku Youko and Spirit Circle will be ending this year. Hopefully his next series gains a hold like Spirit Circle so we're not 30+ chapters behind when it ends.
I didn't even know the middle chapters had been translated. I was reading it on Batoto and the updates just stopped at chapter 20. On the bright side, I get to binge-read it!
If Spirit Circle is ending in a few weeks, and Sengoku Youko is coming near to the end, what the hell is he gonna make next? He's kinda like Tsutomu Nihei - he just ends stuff when it should and makes a new series. But I'm waiting for a new series always makes me nervous. What if he doesn't get picked up again, /a/? Crunchyroll came along and began translating it, so the teams on it just sort of quit. The middle chapters are all "Horrible Scans" rips of Crunchyroll, which Batoto obviously isn't going to host.
But then they just didn't translate one of the recent chapters and still hadn't by the time the next one came out (the most recent one), so some anons banded together to get a translation of both out all in one thread.

Rather than making a new thread I'll just post here. I recently finished The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer. Great work, Mizukami is a great mangaka. I didn't immediately like it and the characters felt too chuuni for me but the 9th golem fight really solidifies how great a manga it is. The ending was fantastic, it is pretty much what you would expect to happen but somehow that isn't disappointing at all.

It's one of the reasons why I love Mizukami's works. He's the kind of writer who starts a series wanting to tell a very specific story and he doesn't let it get away from him. It's a very nice difference from the long running ones which mostly have a loose structure and the writers just make up most of it as they go along.
