Fraudrin's control over Hendrickson was more on the level of suggestion than full possession. It wasn't nearly as direct as what Dreyfus was exposed to, and I doubt Fraudrin had to control Dreyfus at 100% all the time anyway. Their arguments are probably their true personalities pushing through a bit, where they aren't really comfortable with what they were doing.
As for Purge, if you chalk it up to powers coming from personality and desire, Hendrickson is a druid who just got through being controlled into damning the world and his mind is fully focused on repent. I'd say that's a good recipe for holy powers to shine through.
