You guys keeping up with Part IV? how you liking it? I'm waiting to watch it after I rewatch the rest of series 1 and 3. Alot of the early episodes from series 1 literally make no sense but I enjoy them. It just blows my mind how inconsistent they are.
I've heard a few people say that "Lupin wasn't kid friendly till The Castle of Cagliostro came out" but the first part seems pretty fucking kid friendly. Is the second part darker or something?

It was edgier the 1st half but It never goes that far so I don't know why people bitch about CoC. The episodes actually got better after Myazaki took over. Lupin became more charasmatic and had more heart, Fujiko became less of a useless whore, and zenigata became less of a dick and more of what he is today. Not the mention the later episodes were more fun and made more sense. He really made the franchise better than it would of ever been without him. If you really want an edgier Lupin, read the manga, watch the Fujiko Mine series or a few of the ovas.

Favorite movies/ovas: I actually liked CoC despite its sliiightly childish demeanor. But I also enjoyed Seven Days Rhapsody, The Secret of Twilight Gemini and Farewell to Nostradamus

Well for the 1970's it was edgy. especially considering animation was strictly for kids back then. It was considered the 1st animated Japanese show for adults because of the amount of death. I mean people are killed left and right. Not to mention all the sexuality. That's why it's considered dark.

You've got silly scenes like that from the start, but didn't in the same episode (or was it in his debut) Goemon cut some guys in half?
Then you've got this moment from Lupin, where he threatens some guy at gun point to go back to the criminal world since he admired his abilities.
I can see how it's overall light though, even in the first 10 episodes, still, many of the dark comments like exist mainly due to the second series - you've got really goofy stuff, like many episodes about Lupin helping random people, Zenigata claiming a few times that Lupin never killed anyone or Goemon always just cutting people's clothes and weapons, never killing anyone... aside from the rare times when he did killlike a small child with psychic powers....
And then in another episode you can get Lupin preparing a trap for a rival and laughing while watching him defeated and about to be blown up. The second series' tone could still get in the darker side for the franchise although those episodes were the minority.

Just read the pycal episode from series 1 in manga form. It's actually better the show. In the episode Pycal kidnaps Fujiko and asks her for some shit she stole from him and tries to make her tell him by hanging her over a body of water.
In the original manga story he first tries to make her tell him by raping her. Then He fucks her a second time and she likes it. apparently they were a couple at some point.

Hope Michelle Ruff returns as Fujiko. She did some great acting in the Fujiko spinoff series. She's great in everything honestly. Man I can't believe this dub is actually happening. Nah, you're wrong about that. They're quite unique. Name a single other character that can even hold a candle to Jigen, Fujiko, let alone Lupin. Goemon I can think of quite a few, but none of them are as cute.

Kinda. I do like those a lot, but to me it was very obvious that after chasing and being chased for so long, that type of attachment would come about naturally. So it didn't resonate as much when it was 'revealed.'
Best episodes I think correlate to the quality of Lupin's schemes. "The End of Lupin the Third" is the most recent one I can think of, where it's like "how's he gonna get out?" There are many likely scenarios, but the one that turns out to be true is so wicked, so clever and so cheeky that a) you never see it coming b) it's actually well thought out.
