It was Naruto, in 2002. A friend of my oldest brother got subs from somewhere, burned 3 and 3 episodes onto DVD's and gave them to my older brother. Remember sitting there with a shitton of DVDs, taking one out puttin another one in.
The first one I ever saw (that aired on local TV) was Moomin. I didnt know it was an anime until a year ago.
Also, I know that game you speak of. I read love hina, and I found that dating simulator, entered the cheat codes for the dress-up games, took of all the clothes, printed out the shittily drawn girls, and fapped to them.

Air TV.
It was back in 2006, I was searching for a streaming website to watch pokemon and i found one where there was a list of anime in alphabetical order. Air was the first show of that list and there was a picture of Misuzu, I found it cute and there goes the story. I remember at the time i was amazed at the idea of all these chinese cartoons being available online in a few clicks.

But D.N. Angel was my first subbed anime, found it on youtube through some AMV featuring it.

I think it was a point-click type horror game and it used the Lilium theme. I liked the song and took it from there. There were a couple airing on tv, but once I grew a bit I stopped watching it. Only a lot later did I watch Death Note, no idea why I found it or anything, but I did enjoy it. I still think it's pretty good. Entry level, yes, but still good.
Scryed, recently went back from the start and watched it all. It was pretty great.
Saw the last few episodes of ttgl, but now I keep dropping it because it's really boring and cliche as fuck. Up to ep 15 now. Maybe one day I'll actually manage to finish it.
FMA:B is the first anime I've seen from start to finish. Haven't rewatched it since then.

Sonic X, I think? Yeah, technically it did air in my country, as it did almost everywhere else, but I missed the TV airings (and it mostly aired on a channel I never had anyway), and I watched the Japanese original while my country aired the 4Kids cut.

The best part was when the volume levels were inconsistent between parts of the same episode. Part 2 was kind of quiet so you turn it up a bit only to have part 3's commercial transition blow your ears out.

It holds up pretty well I think. Solid animation and it was pretty simple plot wise so not really a whole lot could go wrong honestly.

This was my shit back in the day. Got into it when I had been playing the games but a lot of it was still being translated.
Looking back Stream still isn't finished and Beast was the only season that stood on its own. I don't think I ever saw Beast+, but it might not have been out at the time. I rewatched Beast a year or two ago and never realized how long it took to get to the world-hopping bit. The animation for 90% of the fights were criminally lazy though.
