Volume 7 is mostly character introductions. Something I and probably many people watching the show misunderstood: there's a fail 5 and popular 5 for each gender.
Pic related is the female popular 5 at the beginning of volume 7. Second from the left is チチル・ニューミルク. I don't even know how to romanize this, something like Chichiru Newmilk. This is the equivalent of naming someone "bewbs" in English. She's Murrican and her boobs are not silicone.
Second from the right is Sawaboshi Sunao, a bitch in sheep's clothing who serves as antagonist for this volume. Puts on a cute act but actually blackmails people using intel from her family detective agency.

Second from left is Bakunouchi Karen, a third year tomboy who's obsessed with romance but manages to be incompetent and scares away every guy around her by being unintentionally gross and unattractive.
Second from right is Tokugawa Marisa, she's obsessed with finding "truth" in everything. Think Fuwa from Shimoneta except not as intelligent.
The main story of volume 7 is Sawaboshi screwing up and accidentally revealing her true personality while going to Kanade's class to pull votes for the fail 5/popular 5 voting. She blackmails the whole class, and the class vows to get revenge by pushing her out of the popular 5 by getting Yukihira UOG and Chocolat voted in.

Ok that's volume 7, nothing much happened. Volume 8 is where the real plot is.
>Chocolat gets sick and cycles through different personalities, one kuudere, one tomboy/genki girl and one cutesy idol-like. She still says she'll help Kanade find love, but breaks up three confession chances, two from UOG and one from Sawaboshi.
>Chocolat reveals that these personalities were pre programmed into her and that she's something like a robot in nature.
>However, the Chocolat that Kanade knew was in fact an anomaly produced by the mixing of the thousands of pre programmed personalities when the installation failed

Sure thing. UOG becomes a sadist but is still extremely sweet. She asks Kanade politely to let her step on him. Once Kanade passed out from being sleep deprived during one of those sessions and woke up to lying in UOG's lap and UOG asking if he was ok. When she got jealous she quite enjoyed stepping on Kanade's foot and not letting go, as well as his expression of pain.

I'm almost certain final boss Sora won't be winning. The other three are fairly equal in chance to win at the point I've read to. Kanade feels a little differently about Chocolat compared to the two others but I'm not exactly sure whether that's a good or bad thing. On one hand he's more comfortable around Chocolat, on the other he doesn't get as embarrassed around Chocolat.
