Why is this guy so fucking cool?
He's apparently a horrible person, but he's just so goddamn likable, it's impossible for me to hate him.
He has S++ pragmatism.
First, he doesn't value things that are hard to replace. He understands that if you spend more energy keeping something functioning because it's unique than the value it gives you the sum is negative in worth.
In that same line he understands that a copy or a fake is inconsequential. He doesn't care about authenticity. Authenticity is something which doesn't have any value.
Next he understands that money is then almost a direct correlation to ability in the real world. He knows that almost anything can be bought or paid for.
Finally despite all of this, he understands he is illogical as a human. He has seen the truth of the world and ignores it, he lies to himself, and he is sentimental.
He really is one of the best written characters in anime.

Well he is trying to be a fake-dad to Kanbaru. The issue is that most people associate being a father with being a provider, but Kanbaru is already wealthy. So Kaiki is forced to be a father figure the hard way instead of giving her money. You know, telling her to eat properly and give life advice.

Because he comes across exactly as a normal, practical-thinking person would. He's so uncannily relateable it feels like a real person was transplanted into an anime. You can't help but get the impression that his point of view is exactly how someone SHOULD perceive the rest of the story.
It feels like the author wrote Kaiki with a great deal of self-awareness. He's villainous only so much as he is an adult that acts like an adult in a world that's written through the eyes of a teenager.
Just because someone is a dick doesn't mean they can't be charismatic and endearing.
