I used to think that too until I listened to the ED again just recently, now I think Honey and Clover is one of my favourite shows
It's a lot better than Honey and Clover. Relationships in H&C just made me annoyed half the time I was reading it but this series has a bigger variety of characters. I also like the amount of information about shogi that gets dumped at the end of every chapter in the later volumes.

Shit taste is shit. The only criticism that H+C is that the characters aren't instantly likable but it was a great anime and manga.
In all honesty, people who hated the ending are the ones didn't get the character. Morita clearly wins but the manga/anime shows that Hagu is not ready for romance and all that stuff since she literally had to grown up a little bit from being stuck in a 12-year-old mentality due to her upbringing. Hagu wanting to focus more on her work for now instead dealing with Morita and dealing with the feelings around him shouldn't surprise nobody, along with Takemoto clearly losing the Hagubowl way before the ending and it was clear that he was only heading for a heartbreak.
