Why did Dio come back at all? It shits all over the ending in PB, which was perfect for him. You had this guy who was bitter he grew up eating shit while that pampered little faggot Jojo got everything. So he plots to usurp power and take what he thinks the world owes him, and in doing so misses out on his shot at actual happiness by ignoring the fact he has an actual friend in Jonathan. He could've legitimately had a fortune and a good life by allowing himself to be what he was only pretending to be after Jojo stood up to him. Instead, it all ends with him killing Jojo out of spite only for him to go down with the sinking ship. He realizes that Jonathan Cena was the better man who he rose above hate as confessed a sense of friendship and respect for Dio despite it all. Really, it was just Dio's own bitter and hateful nature that was holding him back. It was the perfect fate for him to go down in the arms of the man he could never be.
Then he comes back in 3. As much as I like the fact he steals Jonathan's body, a very literal continuation of his desire to steal everything Jojo had, it never really matters. We barely hear of his respect for Jojo and his fondness for his body, when that should've been made more of as it's actually interesting. His whole beef should've been that he sees himself as the true heir to Jonathan's estate, but instead his hate for Jotaro and Joseph is really poorly defined. Dio is just an asshole for the sake of it and he doesn't have the same personal vendatta and motivation for being an antagonist in 3 as he did in 1.
He was quotable and charismatic and Za Warudo was a great continuation of his freeze powers, but fuck what a wasted opportunity. Not as wasted as part7, which had the chance to do an alt Dio that showed what he could've been like had he had a different upbringing, but instead chose to just rehash everything and have the final fight literally be a fucking reprise of part 3. What a fucking waste.

He lost his mother after growing up initially with his mother, didn't grow up around his dad but grew resentment for society and had his inferiority complex and wanted to get power. He, due to the time he spent with his mother and the sacrifice she made for him, isn't nearly as ruthless and crazy as Dio from PB. He's got a completely different attitude. Dio from PB would've killed Valentine's goons in a heart beat for example and would have no qualms about murdering anyone where as while Diego does what he needs to survive and prosper he's nowhere near as vindictive or blood lusted as PB Dio. Diego and Hot Pants team up to go takedown Valentine for the shit he's pulling and almost succeed. Their backstories that give context to their character and for the better don't appear again in some contrived away to solve themselves. Instead these characters without emotional baggage are killed by Valentine and left in the desert. Not everything has to "go somewhere". Ringo's backstory never went anywhere, it just gave context to his character. It's like how the majority of the backstories of any character in JoJo's never goes anywhere. None of the backstories from part 5 "go anywhere" either (except for Abbacchio's death) it just puts the characters into context and explains their motives and desires.
If Diego's backstory was never explained and he wasn't an Alt. verse Dio he'd still be an anti-hero from his actions alone. He was never replaced by Alt. verse Diego, that was Valentine's last fuck you to Johnny and him trying to get someone to continue his will. it was meant to wrap up loose ends. You can argue it's pointless shoehorning and it partly is as it was Dio's last hurrah but it was explained in story.

I'm not fond of the Ratt fight.Not because of recent events, you fucks.
The fight itself wasn't bad, but it feels like a half-assed, unnecessary extension of the initial bow/arrow story, which could've "ended" at Akira's defeat (until the new arrow was discovered at Kira's home, and thus all is not well).
And I get that it has some interaction between Jotaro and Josuke, but that doesn't amount to anything. Filler content isn't inherently bad, but such a half-assed "oh he shot some rats for no reason, time for us to deal with it" motive sits badly with me.

I loved the whole courage speech and the wine test. But the fight was pretty lame to me. The exploding horse stuff and shooting knifes out of your body was pretty lame. I remember wasting my money on J Stars and not even recognizing sendo Harmon overdrive until I rewatched the fight.
I liked the elements of the fight and the results of it, but not the literal fight itself
