>Horriblesubs is the only group subbing basically every anime this season
Am I missing something? Didn't we used to have like 15 subgroups a few years ago?

Daiz won.
>>
Companies like Crunchyroll and Funimation learned simulcast sub releases were a good idea.

I honestly think it's more convenient this way.
>>
>>144263171
Who the fuck cares?
I'd rather get a release 1-2 hours after it's airing in Japan on nearly every airing show than wait days for some shitters to pump out subs.

You still get the same product either way, but it's faster with HS.
>>
>>144263359
there's a lot of fansubs, people just generally don't care because they get hs right away
>>
>>144263359
Do you really expect sub groups to go through the long subtitling and translating effort anymore when Crunchyroll gets it done first?
>>
>>144263408
I'd rather one group come out with timely subs then 5 groups releasing subs with varying degrees of quality.
>>
For me, HS is fine for airing anime.
Then someone else usually does the BDs, and that's what I'll get for archiving.
>>
There's like five groups subbing DBS and none of them are good.
Once the season is out on blu-ray, Some-Stuffs is great for Jojo
Pocket Monsters are based with Pokemon.

Normie anime most /a/ watches gets crunchy roll treatment, but there are sub groups for niche shows.
>>
Times change. Business model changed.
Adverse effects in the fan sub community echoed.

Its not a inherently only a bad thing. Plus you know that if CR subs or any other official sub fucks it up incredibly that dedicated autists from the internet will rectify that. (after whining a shit ton and failing internet petitions)

i.e Phoenix Wright vs Naruhodou
>>
>>144263491
Exactly, the current model is absolutely fine and would what anime fans 20-30 years ago would be dreaming of to have.
>>
just learn chink it's not that much of a hassle

once you beat the kanji barrier it gets even harder but more satisfying, chink cartoons are perfect for learning because stuff's pronounced more formally and slower
>>
>>144263959
or spanish,
Holy shit I am over zealous with jealous that they have so much dedication especially to the shonen.
>>
>>144263408
>You still get the same product either way, but it's faster with HS.
Not if it's daisuki rip, I rather watch something in spanish than deal with horrible audio and fucked up saturation.
>>
>>144263171
>Dragon Ball Super
>Macross Delta
>Pokemon
>>
Horriblesubs isn't a translator group, they just rip CR and other subs.

What's changed is that shit is getting subbed by companies and released almost at the same time it airs.
Then these get ripped and put out there.

Sucks to be a subbing group but really, sub groups probably appreciate the lack of pressure. They just sub what they feel like it at whatever speed they like.

Unless it's macross or something HR doesn't have a rip of.
Thanks gg

It's always around epsiode 3 until you can say for sure what subgroups will be working on.
>>
>>144263171
This simply isn't true, Every season the majority of anime i watch are done by fansubs. Did you already forget fansubs saved 2 big titles from not getting any subtitles last season?
>>
It was always the same shit, people used to bitch about commie's monopoly now they bitch about cr/funimation
>>
英語だけ庶民は死ね
>>
Just about everything that comes out now is picked up either by Crunchyroll or Funimation. Fansubbing just isn't needed for seasonal anime like it used to be. I'm perfectly fine paying 6 dollars a month to be able to stream most of what I want to watch every season on my PS4 (plus things in my backlog). Crunchyroll actually does a decent job subbing. Funimation is kind of a hit or miss but it's also pretty cool they're in the business now of dubbing and simulcasting seasonals while they air, putting the dub only a couple weeks behind the actual airing.
Although that 6 bucks is worth it for Diamond is Unbreakable alone
>>
>>144269839
You're going to have to be a bit more subtle.
>>
>>144264530

I remember that great Eureka Seven Final Episodes gap, and Bizzaro Nanashi's releases. Things are are a lot more convenient now.

It makes sense though, Why waste time and effort when HS can just rip CR subs in 2 seconds flat?

Least it saves on stupid subgroup drama.

There is little to no point in subbing something that is already getting subs. So if CR gets it, other groups wont bother.

Personally I feel it removes the fucking drama subgroups had as well as them randomly dropping series. Do I miss tons of subgroups? Yeah, kinda. It was only a few short years ago really.

Fansubs wars turned onto Prosubs wars anon. And you sill have some subgroups left that some times don't drop the anime they are working on so you can add them too.

it just hurts when a show falls thru the cracks and doesn't get timely subs
>>
>episode comes out
>one subber is asleep for the next 7 hours
>the second subber is not subbing the show anymore because something in the last ep triggered his autism
>the third subber has decided he is so good and better than everyone else that he will sub the episode only when he reaches 500$ in donations
>the fourth subber has something mean said to him on twitter, and since he is God, he will not sub until he has been apologized to by 5000 people
>the fifth is leeching victimhood from the fourth, on top of asking for mo' money fo dem subs
>the sixth is jerking his micropenis at the power he has while reading the comments of people asking him to sub the episode

Yeah no, I'm happy fansubbers fucked off and died.

Is DUWANG just throwing what they see into a Google Translator?
>>
>>144273816

>three weeks behind

wew lad
>>
>>144263171
It's better this way. The translations are professional and non intrusive, they follow a strict schedule, the shows are never dropped or have the last two episodes delayed for two months because the translator stopped responding to emails or any other bullshit, and you no longer have to go through the pain of choosing a group for each show off the season, or watch a speed sub where half of the script is made up and wait 10 days for a decent sub. Things have never been better, when I go to HS's website and see that schedule, with every episode being released as planned with no subber drama, I can hardly believe it.
