Sword fighting really doesn't require much strength.
Rather, you need a lot of technique and finesse to get proper edge alignment so you actually cut shit. And endurance, obviously. Because a sword may not be heavy, but swinging anything around for a few minutes will be tiring, let alone when using controlled precise swings for the duration of entire fights.

Longswords are designed to be 2 handed, but can also be used 1-handed effectively.
Arming/side swords are one handed.
Bastard swords are an inbetween. Slightly longer blade and longer handle than an arming sword, but not as much room for a good grip as with a longsword.
