Sakamoto didn't try hard to be funny, it just felt natural. Everyone just went along with all that shit Sakamoto did. and it was funny.
But this show is just the epitome of the generic anime comedy i.e dumb unfunny overreactions, screaming, "wacky" faces, jokes that drag way too long, misunderstandings, etc.
