Either Dragonball, Sailor Moon or Magic Knight Rayearth. They aired on TV here way back when.
I watched a bunch of classic type anime before I even really knew what "anime" was then found this place and eventually all the reaction images sucked me in and I watched Oreimo.
The first I *saw* was either Tom Sawyer, Ie naki ko or Princesse Sarah. But the Rose of Versailles, Little Lord Fauntleroy are also possible.
The first that got me into anime as a thing is either FMA 2003 or Beck. Can't remember for sure.
The first thing I saw was Dagger of Kamui on VHS and used to watch Dragonball on the Japanese channel. Back then I didn't think of it as anime though, it was just a cartoon that happened to be from Japan. I also saw Gunbuster, Bubblegum Crisis and Vampire Hunter D at a neighbors house.
