Amyway each main entry from the very first Metal Gear to The Phantom Pain should be done in a high quality yearly OVA or film installmenst. Each game's story could be broken up into as many mini-series lengthen episodes as required. For example Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, would probably require something like 24 hour length episodes to get a good grasp of it where as Metal Gear 1 would need only maybe 6 episodes at tops.
Sadly this will never happen.

With how rushed TPP is, it's perfect for a movie or two. They can take out the filler and focus on the parts that are in line with the rest of the games and what started with Ground Zeroes, like the scenes with Paz.
You don't need to cover so many things, people were satisfied with how 3 would have led into Metal Gear and more story would just make his motives unclear. There are some novels I think that aren't 100% canon but cover some extra material. More content would just bring up more inconsistencies, like how V brought up plot points that weren't even resolved. A long series is fine with some inconsistencies.
