I mean, Diego certainly didn't. He stopped just as he was about to, because he saw Lucy. After Diego dies and Lucy is just hanging out down there, the vault is open. When it comes back to the same place later on, the vault is closed, and Steel says Diego was the one who closed it. And his corpse is gone. This one might be chalked up to them cleaning up the mess, but what if Lucy stuffed his corpse in the vault with the holy corpse and locked it? Maybe Steel just thought his whole body was gone because of the effects of DC4?
This doesn't seem like a continuity error. It's all in the same volume, and the key not being turned is stressed in some panels.Also is Diego losing his head an intentional throwback to what happened to Jonathan at the end of part 1? And doesn't Johnny also get specifically his head crushed by rocks? I'm starting to think Diego has something to do with part 8.

Reading the new VA scans of the Buccellati and KC fight has given me a slightly different interpretation of Diavolo. Before I found him just bland and a little nuts, but now he strikes me as a lot more nuts and also potentially sort of lonely and all the more power-mad for it, in a weird sense?
Like, rather than relying on his own supposedly undefeatable power like DIO and The World, Diavolo depends more on his secrecy to protect himself. But when it comes down to an actual fight, he's quick to reveal what exactly his powers are to Buccellati, and repeatedly congratulates him on how dedicated and powerful he is rather than belittling him or dismissing him as trivial. It sorta strikes me as Diavolo being wanting to validate himself by saying that anyone who can give him any sort of trouble must be something really special, whereas more confident characters belittle and disregard their enemies because they're secure in themselves.

Yeah. Some of the changes like La Squadra di Ezecuzione are kind of jarring but I can live with it personally. I wish they'd just do it properly but it's not offensively bad or outright making stuff up like the old ones. Ignition One ACTUALLY fucking confused Venezia and Vienna.
