Are there animes targeted at adults?
>Shōnen, shonen, or shounen manga (少年漫画 shōnen manga?) is manga aimed at a young male audience. The age group varies with individual readers and different magazines, but it is primarily intended for boys between the ages of 8 to 18.
>Shōjo, shojo, or shoujo manga (少女漫画 shōjo manga?) is manga aimed at a teenage female readership.
>Seinen manga (青年漫画?) are manga marketed to adolescent boys and men old enough to read kanji.
>Josei manga (女性漫画?, lit. comics for women, pronounced [dʑoseː]) are Japanese comics aimed at women in their late teens on into adulthood.

"mahou shojou"
Seinen and josei manga are aimed at persons 18 and over.
That said, those are demographic classifications that apply specifically to manga magazines. They've got literally nothing to do with anime and barely tell you anything about a manga either.

Bait thread, move along folks.
Late night anime target adults. No exceptions.

Adults can generally choose what they want to watch and attempts to cater to them specifically in terms of media do not really work because their tastes are varied.
There really is no such thing as "targeting adults" even in film or literature. But you should know that if you lived a few years past high school.
Closest thing that tries to cater to adult populations is this >>144170763
But that doesn't stop pubescent teens making up a huge chunk of the "adult" population consuming this.
Josei is read entirely by full-grown women, and oddball freaks like Anno.
Josei is terrible though, you might as well just read NTR doujins at that point.
