I agree with Code Geass, but Death Note's manga ending was leagues better. The flashback was way more powerful a moment than Light running off. They left the punchline as an info card at the commercial break. It made it hard for me to enjoy the anime version.

Is not the same? I don't want to watch brotherhood because I already saw the 2003 anime and it wasn't good enough for me to care about a remake.
I mean, yeah, it's the best anime according to MAL but
>MAL
>>
>>144151571

What was the manga ending? Was is it that he endures all the deaths in the death note and tries to challenge the Shingami king or something?
>>
>>144151619
MAL thinks every entry-level shounenshit is worthy of praise. You're not missing out on much, really. FMA is a competent shounen that is vastly overrated by casuals and newshits.
>>
>>144151619
FMA: B follows the manga, FMA doesn't.
>>
>>144151703

We have a dipshit like yourself thinking the masses don't know what is is good.

Share us what you think is a better shonen that FMA:B you faggot. Go on, amuse us.
>>
>>144151619
FMA:B goes through the first maybe dozen episodes of the original FMA and it does it in like 3 episodes after that the stories diverge and FMA:B goes into arguably darker and more occult themes. I would say try out the first maybe half a dozen episodes of FMA:B and if you don't like it then just pass on to the next show you want to watch.
>>
>>144151160
Evangelion has a really nice payoff. I liked Paranoia Agent's too.
>>
>>144151619
They're almost identical up to a certain point, around the time they're exploring Lab 5 iirc

Then they go in completely different directions with different antagonists, characters, and endings. Brotherhood comes with China DLC.
>>
>>144151160
Don't you watch anime? You should know that question yourself
>>
Surprised it wasn't said, Eureka 7.
>>

Paranoia Agent actually does have a really nice ending, although in my mind it gets overshadowed by "Radar Man" being such a good penultimate episode.

No, it's relatively the same.
Ryuk writes Light's name in the Death Note, and asks him if he remembers what he told him when they first met.
There's a flashback of Ryuk and Light talking in his room. Ryuk says "Those who use the Death note can neither go to Heaven or Hell."
And Light says "I don't believe in Heaven or Hell." Ryuk confirms that there's no such thing, you just stop existing and says 'death is equal'.
It cuts back to Light in the warehouse, he's obviously thinking of this moment as he's lying on the ground.
His last words are "Shit," and he dies right there in front of everyone. Ryuk flies off laughing.

There's an extra chapter, also, where Matsuda wonders if they did the right thing, and they show cult for Kira being led by a person who looks like Misa. It was just better.

Out of the well-known anime:

All of JoJo (I mean its sort of an ending each time, right?)
TTGL
Nodame Cantabile
The new F/SN
Steins;Gate
AnoHana
Code Gease
F/Z

Granted a lot of these don't have a happy ending and a lot aren't original works but all the endings are "satisfying"

I just fail to see how you can't even talk about anime anymore without it being a supposed rec thread.
>>144159823
Texhnolyze does not deal with the topics of Nihilism, I don't even see where that comes from.
I guess the suicide of the doctor and the unwillingness to "live" in the surface world has lead to that claim, but I really wouldn't call it nihilistic.
>>
>>144159912
>Nihilism
>extreme skepticism maintaining that nothing in the world has a real existence.

That is literally the ending of the show
>>
>>144159823
Nihilism is the belief that life in meaningless. But the show is a lot less pessimistic than that.

Even though the human race was coming to an end and things were crumbling, that doesn't mean any of the characters' lives were entirely meaningless. If anyone's life was meaningless, it was those who lived their entire lives on the surface world, besides Yoshii. Ichise spent most of his life without purpose like an animal, and being taken advantage of by others. But Ran treated with him kindness without expecting anything in return.

That he managed to experience that kindness and love before he died, and genuinely cared about someone else (Ran) even if it was only briefly, gave his life meaning. No matter how small it seemed.

If you're a purely collectivist goon that denies the individual, then sure his life might seem totally meaningless, since no individual or group could reverse what was happening to the last of the human race. But isn't finding even a little meaning in life even more powerful in the face of a civilization that has given up as a whole?
>>
>>144160078
I agree with your analysis of the events in the show, but isn't take a take on nihilism you described?
Disagreeing with something is still dealing with that concept.

A truly nihilistic show wouldn't even exist, since it wouldn't matter if it existed or not. There was a nihilistic antagonist who denied reality, but the show itself is not nihilistic. Disagreeing with something doesn't make you essentially that thing.

I'd agree with this sort of. I think it went to shit after L died but the very last episode was brilliant

Punchline,
Shingeki no Bahamut,
Gankutsuo had a two episode climax and a full episode dedicated to what happened afterwards,
Kokoro Connect finally let best girl win
and finally two J.C.Staff shows, Flying Witch and Heavy Object had anime original endings that didn't feel out of place while giving a sense of climax and closure.

As great as the anime was overall it ended way too soon and there was still stuff they could have done before they ended it.

Episode 9 was quite the cop-out that more or less said "we need to get this plot moving, pronto", but I quite enjoyed the last three episodes and felt like the buildup complimented the climax without having large, gaping holes in the plot.
More adventuring would be great, but when a show has a goal and finishes said goal in one cour without it feeling like an asspull, it counts as a satisfying ending in my book.

One of the most satisfying endings to a shonen. They could have easily gone the Boruto route and milked it. But thankfully the author just ended it there, giving everything a nice resolution.

Seeing all those pictures on the wall while the ending was playing just fucked my shit up.

Nihilism is not inherently negative, it's just a philosophy that explores the fact that life has no objective meaning. If everything is meaningless then you might as well be nice to your fellows and try to make life pleasurable. Maybe along the way you can even manage to create a meaning of your own. Nihilism is what you choose it to be. This is the kind of nihilism Nietzsche advocated for.

That makes no fucking sense, why do books on nihilist philosophy even exist then, since they "dont have any meaning"?

That was such a good fan ending, but I wouldn't like it if it was the real ending.

How so? He literally told Light he would do it and Light acknowledged it. He couldn't have been more fair.
