Yeah, I liked the conspiracy build up in SS, but what I really was wanting was the hollow final boss. Ever since the first menos showed up in the story I was waiting to see more truly horrific monsters, they were genuinely creepy. Then when Aizen escapes SS and one of the characters makes the comment about "something else" with the minor menos hollows I was expecting shit to get real in the hollow arc, some kind of Lovecraftian evil stuff.
Then vasto lordes turned out to be brown skinned big breasted blonde women who behaved no differently than people even though they're supposedly the culmination of thousands of human souls merged into one being. What a letdown.

The problem is that there were WAY too many fights where people revealed new abilities but the new ability only mattered for that fight. The amount of one-trick pony moments in this arc is absurd. Remember Rukia's Bankai? Isn't it sad that she basically just used it once, and it will never matter again? Isn't it fucked up that Hitsugaya's mature form was used for one fight that he and two other people who ALSO revealed new abilities were unable to even win?
