I don't think the tone is very different at all. It seems like it'll be a pretty loyal adaptation, though it's been some years since I've read the VN. First episode already made me feel things.

Like an 8. I have 17/20 shows that I really like and don't see myself dropping.
Last season I picked up a bunch too but ended up dropping many, so this time around it feels a lot better.
Although I can see why anybody who doesn't like cute boys would be disappointed with this season. I'm a bit overwhelmed too. I wish there were more comfy SoL with cute girls like Amanchu.

Maybe they have a different idea of what dark is. I really believe that if you didn't think the VN was dark, you probably won't think the anime is any different. It's not the first word I'd use to describe either the VN or the anime, but I can also see how they would think that. To me, the anime wasn't darker than the VN.

The only thing thing B-project did better was Masuda's voice. Everything else is just boring struggles of idolshit life with a self-insert MC. So far Tsukiuta's been more fun.
