It depends how the stasi took power, really, but basically there's enough corruption at the top levels of communist society (rolexes and champagne and foreign currency don't usually just appear out of thin air) that it's actually fairly easy to remove your enemies from power while adhereing to the letter of the law. That's not even getting into things like diverted shipments and black market factories. The question isn't whether Schmidt had legal grounds to remove his enemies, it's about making sure he can slap them and they can't slap him back.

I did post a lot in those threads, but they sadly turned into image dumps at some point. And now with SM, its just not interesting enough for me to get into.
