Up to that point her entire character has revolved around Ichigo with a mix of goofy nonsense. If only for a moment she has realistic goals and shows her greedy nature. Her returning to revolving around Ichigo ruined it and I doubt she will ever return to being separable from him.

I dunno about Ichigo, he's a typical shounen protag. Yeah, he's not particularly good, but his existence doesn't really offend me the same way Orihime's does. Chad probably is worse, though. He could have been cut out of the story entirely and nobody would have noticed.
