The sheer force of the anger they exhibited was far too much, I agree. Death threats, mailing suspicious substances, and blaming a VA who has no control over anything about the game is going way too far. However, from how it was marketed at the start, Alisha was going to be the heroine. She was going to be prominent in the story and worth getting invested into. Having her get replaced by a character that was completely unlikeable was an attempt at clever story-telling that failed utterly. I didn't mind the character switch all that much myself, other than Rose being a major cunt. But we never saw the marketing blitz setting up Alisha to be the main girl with nary a mention of Rose.

I guess I'm trying to say that waifu fags are too extreme and the writers should be able to use bait and switch as a tool to make an interesting story. However, the girl they replaced Alisha with was fucking annoying and thus inferior. Regardless of the other issues the story has, and regardless of whether or not the switch out was intended from the start, it was poorly handled and we'll probably never see anything like it again.

It's probably the least interesting of all the 3D games with free-run. You must have Sorey and his squire in the field, so you can't have an all-Seraph party. I noticed when playing as the Seraphs that Armatizing was clunkier- the game puts priority on Sorey's actions so if he's in the middle of a combo as an AI you have to wait for it to finish before you can combine. It puts a ton of emphasis on hitting enemy weak points over anything else and of course the camera gets stuck on random shit which makes it hard to see what's going on in tight spaces. Ally AI is retarded no matter what settings you use, though you can mitigate the worst of the stupidity.

It's easy to complain. The fights are usually fast swapping between seraphim on the fly can be fun. Bosses suffer from being tough by virtue of breaking the rules of the game rather than any cleverness on the AI or designer's part, but that's hardly a problem unique to Tales or even JRPGs.

Well the parallel was already ruined, since the scene of Sorey catching Mikleo in the game, was your real first introduction to the two of them and their relationship. But because the anime starts differently there's no need for it.

It's the job of a localization to replicate the experience as closely as possible, which means references also should be changed to equivalent things. In this case there's the extra problem of the Japanese audio.

My favorite thing about Zestiria is that they properly made all the Seraphim party members the best characters. They knew what the focus was and they made all five of your Seraphim party members fun as hell to listen to. Lailah especially.

Changing something like that is perfectly reasonable. Most stories, of course, try to be a little less on the nose with names, but Hearts is especially bad in that regard.
