For me it might be the second season of Haikyuu. It rocked up in the fall of ยด15 with one of the strongest first episodes of a season I have ever seen. It lulled a bit in the middle but wrapped up amazingly, while also setting the stage for more to come. Combine with a stellar soundtrack, visuals that leave most other shows eating dust and you have an AOTY contender.
