Have you watched so many harems that you actually think things like "being shy" or "being poor" or "airhead" are genuine character flaws and not just moe traits to make them cuter? Kirino's actual character flaws actually make sense in the context of the story, which is part of why I think she's a great character.

I don't disagree with this but what does that have to do with character flaws? Yes, that's the premise of the series - that her brother, out of boredom or concern, suddenly decided he wanted to take an interest in his little sister's life and shit happens.

Let me try to explain s l o w l y so you can get it through your thick skull. Kirino being unrelatable is not an inherent fault in her character that makes her relatable she is unreliable because she does not resemble a real human being with feelings, emotions, expectations this is for all intents and purposes NOT a pro, the character is just shit, the character doesn't suddenly become good because its shit, that makes no sense.
The point of being poor or whatever is not a character flaw, it's something that allows us to sympathize with the character, because they have actual problems in their lives that they need to overcome, koroneko has her anxiety issues on an internal level and her poverty as an external adversity that she strives to overcome.
What kind of character flaws or development does kirino face? NOTHING. The only ''problem'' she's ever had is her contrived pointless love for her brother.

Her immature "conceited" attitude is just part of her chuuni persona, you can see her home life to realize she's been a good older sister her whole life. I won't deny her opening up and ultimately being rejected by Kyousuke isn't sad, but that's not a character flaw.

What other friends does she make that she doesn't have from the start? The only other person she even gets remotely close to besides the circle she's had since the beginning (Saori, Kirino, Kyousuke) is Manami, and that barely counts. She says she finds it impossible to make friends, yes, but has the series ever shown her struggling or being rejected by people at school? Of course not. Hell, even with her interactions with Ayase, she has no problems facing her head to head in an argument about who Kirino's best friend is. That sure as hell doesn't look like social anxiety to me.

No, I suggest you actually look up where the term originates from. People use it that way, yes, but that's not correct. To begin with, having a flawless character isn't exactly a problem to begin with - again, I like kuro even if she lacks any meaningful flaw to her person. She's a sweet girl that's mature yet with a harmless childish indulgence in chuuni behavior. Even if she had these anxiety issues, it frankly just increases her moe factor. And that's fine. Not everyone needs to have a flaw, that's just the reasoning of "muh complex character" types. But to criticize Kirino for lacking flaws and praising kuro for having them is just wrong.

Kyousuke had a bit of a crush on her from the very beginning though. He was constantly lusting over her body and describing her as extremely refined and beautiful. You're a sad person or a sheltered person if you've never been disappointed by somebody. Kyousuke used to be her idol, and he basically threw it all away on top of shutting himself away from her. Of course she's hurt. Anyone would be hurt. How is that not relatable? When Kyousuke suddenly becomes the cool older brother she always wanted, she's torn. She wants to forgive him, but she can't let go of that lingering resentment - humans aren't robots that can just switch something off like that, after all. I don't know how that's NOT relatable.

First off, you're the one who cited being poor as a "flaw." Second, being poor isn't a significant adversity in the series because it never comes into play in any meaningful way. And I'm not going to bother repeating myself about her supposed anxiety issues - they've been given scant development, if any.

Not him but at first Ruri couldn't even properly speak to other people without Kyousuke standing beside her and encouraging her. That changes over time, she learns how to be more social and keeps those friends on her own and in the After Story it's mentioned that she made a new friends without any help. Oh and her chuuni side was far more than a harmless and childish indulgence, she literally had no friends and was lonely prior to meeting Kirino/Kyousuke/Saori and her delusions are definitely holding her back. That was one of the points from the confrontation with Fate-san in volume 3, if you keep being an arrogant chuuni misfit you'll be a loser and loner as adult.

Kuroneko isn't even poor. Lower middle-class at worst. Her family has a spacious house, she gets an allowance and her family can afford to go to a weekend spa trip. It's something the anime did to make her more sympathetic, in an interview Fushimi says that he has no idea why people consider her to be poor.

Fair enough on the first point I suppose, I just don't think it was done very well.
As for her chuuni-ness, the problem to me is that she doesn't really drop it (not that I'd want her to, it's part of the charm of her character), so it's hard to call it growth.
In any case, still maintain that both of these are very weak flaws, especially in anime. Like I said above, the chuuni-ness is almost treated like a charm point in the majority of cases.
