I just finished the 2nd arc. Why the fuck was Rem so crazy? She brutally murders him twice and even after her flashback I still don't see the justification.
My understanding is that MC primarily interacts with the elder sister the first 3 tries and because he smells like the witch this enrages Rem. She keeps an eye on him and eventually decides that hes a threat. But that doesn't explain his 2nd and 3rd deaths. The 2nd time he's already dying from the curse and simply crying out for help and she kills him. The 3rd time he leaves, but for some reason she follows him to kill him. WTF?

In all timelines where he is killed by them, it is because his paranoia made them suspicious and then he takes a final dangerous action that pushes them over the edge.
Timeline 1 - He does nothing suspicious. But does smell of the witch. Rem/Ram have nothing to do with his death. He dies to other causes.
Timeline 2 - He is now extremely suspicious, knows things he should not know, and he is heavier with the witch's scent. He takes the final action of advancing towards Emilia's room at night while vomiting. Later you will learn that there is a group called the witch cult and that some of their disciples also display that exact same behavior. While to us, we know he is sick, to them he is a threat.
This is a universe where people have special powers and can kill each other in instants if allowed close.
Timeline 3 - Even more suspicious, even more witch scent. He pretends to leave the mansion, but instead, picks a high vantage point where he can see Emilia's room and holds a knife in his hand.

Even when he is at his most crazy, the twins are calming his PTSD without being asked. They also do a lot of other things in the WN that show huge sympathy. It is his fear and paranoia that lead them to act.
Also I'm going to spoil you now. Even the Witch Cult mistook him for one of their leaders, even going to far as to pay their respects and bowing down to him.
Not to mention him puking is one to the telltale signs that he is affiliated with the Witch Cult, as the Gluttony branch of members are infamous for puking.
