Saying 50 tanks is better than 1 heavy tank doesn't say much, Kay.
>>
>>143904975
Well even the Pershing, which was basically an American copy, was better. It's armour was sloped so it had better protection than the Tiger, a gyrostablized gun so it could fire on the move, and wet ammo storage so the ammunition wouldn't blow up when hit, nearly eliminating the chance that the tank would burn out; thus making it recoverable if knocked out (though only 2 ever were). It also had a bunch of crew-comforts like spring-loaded hatches that were easy to quickly open and close, which would have been considered superfulous on a German or Russian tank.

The Centurion was the best tank design of the war, but it never saw action in WW2. The first tanks were issued right after the Nazis surrendered and there was no opportunity to send them to fight the Japanese before they surrendered.

The Tiger was a novelty, but it wasn't actually THAT great. It's only because no one had the weapons on hand to deal with it AT FIRST that it got its reputation; however, when the Sherman was upgraded with a 76mm gun (for the 17lber for the Brits) and the IS2 came into service, it no longer had significant advantages beyond still having a very good gun (and that Russian tank crews weren't properly trained or utilized intelligently). People forget a Sherman with a 76mm gun could punch through the front armour of a Tiger.

Reminds me of the "Ideal Garupan Game" they were talking about several threads ago.

>Real time tank combat with sports management, dating sim, and stealth elements

>Select a major or minor school from the series or create your own team.
>Combat: Starts of with team commander view, an RTS screen where you could give tanks orders, and an ability to manually control a tank in first/third person.
>Management: Between matches, manage your team, their skills, and their tanks. Purchase and research more tanks (Like grinding but not shit like WoT and WT's). Play mock matches with other schools for experience.
>Dating sim: Go out and socialise with the Garupans. Focusing on some characters give them combat bonuses. No yuri pls.
>Stealth: For Ooarai, before the match, go Solid Snake as Yukari. Acquire the enemy tank lineup, their battle plans, and all sorts of other strategies. Failure results in a slight change to the enemy lineup and strategy and a hentai CG. Probably reduced loading time as well.

It had similar maneuverability to a Panther in Europe. The weak engine/transmission didn't become a problem until the very hilly terrain in Korea. All they did then was slap a better transmission and engine in it and call it the M46.

The Panther is quite sexy with its nicely sloped 80mm, thin side armour of 40mm, allowing it to be lighter, and a modest 40mm rear armour.

What about, no.
A Panther's off-road speed was about TWICE of that of a Pershing.
It wasn't until Korea that they gave them a decent engine.

But what am I doing arguing with you? Clearly you'll ignore that and call me wehrboo because I just said that a German tank that YOU mentioned had better mobility than the Pershing (a than I happen to like) because you're convinced it HAS to be superior in everything. So let's move to the part where we stop posting things before the thread blows up, shall we?

Sherman Firefly – This WWII British tank was a variant of the US Sherman tank. The British armed the tank with their powerful anti-tank gun – the British 17 pounder. The Firefly was originally to be used in the interim until newer designed British tanks were ready for service.

After a few of its original flaws were corrected, the tank went into production and its value was soon recognized as it was the only British tank with the capacity to defeat both the Panther and the Tiger tanks when engaged within standard combat ranges. As a result, the German’s instructed their tanks and their anti-tank gun crews to attack the Sherman Fireflies first.

Next he'll go on about "muh reliability" citing the British army test. Unfortunately, people forget that those tanks were assembled from memory by a punch of POWs using left-over parts found in a bombed-out factory. Worst of all, the test drivers were scots.
The Swedes, however, adored the machines and their reports were absolutely glowing.

That's the same one I posted but with subtitles, thank you for that. Additionally, wartime German records show that the panther had similar reliability to the Stug and panzer 4. The Swede's testing panther lasted them until 1961.

Meanwhile, in slavland
"Soviet tests on newly built T-34’s showed that in April 1943 only 10.1% could complete a 330km trial and in June ’43 this went down to 7.7%."

"The T-34 tested at the Aberdeen centre was built at the best factory using materials of superior quality but its engine stopped working after 72.5 hours. This was not due to American interference as there was a Soviet mechanic (engineer Matveev) charged with maintaining it. Still it was much better than the standard tanks since it covered a distance of 343km. According to the head of the Armored Directorate of the Red Army N.Fedorenko, the average mileage of the T-34 to overhaul during the war, did not exceed 200 kilometers. This was considered adequate since the T-34’s service life at the front was considerably less. For example in 1942 only 66km. In that sense the T-34 was indeed ‘reliable’ because it was destroyed before it had a chance to break down on its own! "

Same. I considered changing it to something more recognizable (like the Ayrton Senna thing with the Tiger), but this one seemed like it was probably around as obscure in Japan as it is in English (if not moreso; it's a Spielberg movie!)

Related: the TL and I spent quite a while going back and forth over how to handle Fukuda's line about how she felt compelled to attack after Nishi fell in the first battle. I was concerned that "save face" felt stilted, and that the imperial-Japan-style social pressures wouldn't come across well for viewers who didn't already understand them.
Ultimately, I ended up changing a couple lines in that area to try to make them sound _less_ natural in English, in an attempt to make it clear that the concept being referenced is uniquely Japanese. Did it work?

Also, regarding the line about the rules limiting the engines, but not the traction motors: prior to asking the TL for clarification on the original version there, I had no idea that the Tiger had a combined combustion-electric transmission similar to those used in a lot of modern trains. Each track has a gas-powered generator, which powers an electric traction motor. The rules set limits on the output of the engines, but not on the actual traction motors, so they could disable the limiters on that end without breaking the rules (at the cost of putting too much strain on the generators). Did that seem clear?

In 1943 9-РМ radio set was introduced. Commander tanks + slight number of others.
It's was not a problem with T-34/76 or improvement in construction T-34-85. It's was problem with industry that was not able produce enough radio sets.

Buy those, and build a bunch of tank destroyers domestically because fucking hell the Russians got a lot of tanks.
