Well to answer your question, some of those drama regarding Ueno and Kawai are really not that relevant, yet the author seemed to have put so much unnecessary time into it. I think Mashiba is an ok guy but not all his scenes were that necessary. Same with fat guy but that film aspect can be kept.
They just need to focus on Yuzuru, Shouko and Ishida. Then they're good. I fear that they may cut off the scenes with the mother's though. I still like the funeral scene.

I can totally see this working as maybe a 2 hour movie at maximum, but anything longer is too risky. You can trim the fat on this series in a lot of places, but theres still a lot of really great scenes that really fit the tone, like that anon saying how everyone around him being shitty helps. Ultimately I think it'll come down to whether or not the team behind this has enough sense and skill to effectively pull it off, because really, this does have potential to be an incredible movie. Guess we have to just wait and see.And lets be honest, we're not going to see it until six to nine months after its come out in theaters.

That is the redemption that was good enough. You couldn't expect her to pull a total 180 and be a new character. I think this was as subtle as it got when she and Sahara worked together.
As much as Ueno's personality being very polarizing, I still think she's an interesting character.
I mean she had it all. Jealousy, insecurities, regrets. But let me go into regret and how it was actually a lingering problem for her. She liked Ishida, but she did nothing to stand up for him when they bullied him. Contrasts Sahara's actions where she at some point stood up for Shouko. I'll say that this just adds to the list of why she's so extra bitchy against Shouko and Sahara. She just sees how shitty of a person she was.
