In my opinion, if the anime never existed and the fanbase was painfully exterminated (excepting the very few over 13 years old and capable of appreciating it for the plot) it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

My point was that Kuroshitsuji was never good even despite the fanbase. If anything, Yana actively encourages fujoshit because she loves little boy lewds. Nuking the fanbase wouldn't improve Kuroshit. Being there "for the manga itself" is still being there for softcore shota (although Toboso obviously loves boobs too). The plot isn't good enough to justify defending it.
