This approach is really insidious even if it seems preposterous to non elevens. That's why being rich, engaged to one of the family and an adult man would make protag-kun able to block any one of these encroachments. It's a common trope in historicals and drama that's why there's not a more extensive explanation to the readers as we are supposed to get it.
