The problem with Shield Hero is that once he got his revenge, there was nothing to continue the story. A majority of readers were there because Shield was a underdog with a revenge boner. Once that was all cleared up, they lost their interest. The entire middle of it was pretty much just stretched down with mostly Sol shit, and then the original tragic end came out of nowhere.
From what I heard about the LN, it has fixed some of these problems.

Why is it that most Isekai LN turn into an author's sexual fantasy of some sort (Re: Monster being a serious offender)? A lot of premises of these stories turn out to be pretty neat, but after reading a few dozen chapters into some of these LNs, a few of them just become text-based porn or turn into a haremfest.
