I think CGI gives more options than live action, like, with CGI they can do more gore and intricate designs. Additionally, CGI, especially CGI as good as this (seriously, when I saw the teaser trailer, I thought it was live action), keeps the realism.

I really did wish the Vampire arc went somewhere. They sort of implied that Vampires are a worldwide phenomenon, since there's that sunlight drug that not even the Vampires that appeared in Gantz could afford. That means there are wealthier Vampires out there, in other countries, maybe even Vampires that have connections to the group of business men that run Gantz. Would've been nice to have just one page of the Vampires fighting off the Giants, to show that the Giants are a threat even to the other aliens / monsters.
