What's so pretentious about any of these. Half of them are just talking heads that info dump basic understanding of the principals and ideas they use in the show and the others like Utena, Tatami Galaxy and Ping Pong you barely have to pay attention to to get and it's narrative doesnt convey itself in a much grander way than it actually is and is mostly style over substance.

Ironically enough KyoAni anime can be quite pretentious in the way they present their themes and utilize drama.
They have talent but they waste it on absolute garbage.
The only ones I haven't seen are: whatever the first one is, tatami, mushi, and galactic heroes.
Honestly, ping pong was just enjoyable to watch. There's nothing really pretentious about it. It has an overarching theme and message which are pretty fucking obvious. The parallels between smile and peco and the old dude and the other old dude are pretty easy to see as well. It's not like it's trying to hide some deeper meaning or anything. It's a nice story with pingpong.
Monogatari is one of the most boring shows that I've watched throughout in its entirety. If you asked me what happened I would honestly only be able to give you a very broad summary of each arc.
Cowboy Bebop is good based on its animation alone. The characters, plot and world are a stellar addition to that.
Evangelion I agree a little bit. I saw it as a kid back when netflix did that mailing thing. It went over my head with the last few episodes such that I had to look up a plot summary later in life.
