It wasn't Honoka's fault at all, but Rena's always been defending her and caring for her despite her jealousy, meanwhile nothing was going right for her.

The problem was that it didn't go with the mood at all, with the same shitty tune for both comedic and serious scenes, which sometimes made it hard to take the “dramatic scenes” seriously. Not only was it shit, but it also had the most awkward editing I've heard in a while, cutting off abruptly whenever a scene ended.

Speaking of editing, what's the deal with the ending songs just randomly cutting off when the episode is over? They don't even fade out. It's jarring as hell.

The directing is this show is fucking god awful.
Every conversation that is had in the anime is so convenient to the plot, its as life-less as it gets.
It feels as if each character were robots there were programmed just to say EXACTLY what was said.
If it had a bit better directing, and just plain better written script, it could've been a 7 or 8 for me. As for now I give it a solid 5.
Sure story means a lot, but in order for me to care about the story it has to be executed smoothly and humanly.
And in pic related: It seems the only way to advance the plot, in a story with writing as bad as this, was to have characters secretly listening in on conversations. I dont know how much this was used throughout the show, but it god pretty damn ridiculous.
