I remember reading somewhere that Hirohiko Araki originally intended Stone Ocean to be the end of the entire series which makes sense considering how it ends. But because of how popular Jojo is in Japan he couldn't just end it all so that's why Steel Ball Run and Jojolion exist.

Made in Heaven creates fate by accelerating time to the point that it resets. All actions that occurred will reoccur, and every living thing is completely aware of what happens next, unless its user interferes in any sort of fashion. Those killed by Made in Heaven will be replaced by "blind" spirits in the next universe, who have no memory of the previous universe, but will continue acting out fate unknowingly.
Stone Ocean wasn't doing so hot. So considering how long the series was going for, the editor pushed Araki to end the series there and move on.

I'm still not sure if I love or hate this ending.
On one hand it's very ballsy and feelsy and there's something touching about the crew sort of getting their happy ending. But on the other hand it's also frustrating how gay priest manages survive through so much bullshit, even if you take into consideration the whole "lolfate makes me invincible".
Mostly though, I don't like the whole "and then the whole of Part 6 didn't happen, and potentially the adventures of the past parts might not have happened either, but who the fuck knows, the end".

I admit the ending had its flaws but I don't get why people shit on Pucci for having fate on his side so much.
I thought that aspect was one of the best parts of part 6, if not, the best part. There's no struggle in the series that feels as high-stake as the part 6 gang and Pucci's, through the whole part Pucci always played an active role and didn't sit back to let everyone do his work like DIO did. He had a goal and he had enough determination to rival the Joestars, actually stepping up and going head-to-head with the crew on several occasions, and almost always inflicting damage.
Hell, that's why part 6 was fucking thrilling to read, it felt like two Joestars were going up against eachother, Pucci was a god-tier villain for pretty much actually SUCCEEDING to do his goal. The man doesn't get enough love, he was pretty much the closest the original universe got to a Valentine-like villain.
Also, on the subject of the ending, I really liked it. Jolyne's sacrifice felt reminiscent to how Jonathan died in part 1, it was noble as hell. And Emporio being the one to do Pucci into the ground was a great move, helped as well with the ending to add to a shock factor that a kid of all people trumped Pucci because he was so fargone into his plan he didn't consider that outcome. Also, Pucci killing off the main crew so quickly is still one of the most shocking parts of the whole series.

Although I'm still not exactly sure how that worked, with him needing to do a full loop, yet when he's killed his stand still somehow survives I guess and continues the cycle anyway.

As far as I could tell what happened was that Pucci sped time up to the point of a big crunch/big bang, and in the new universe, the idea is that since the universe is nearly infinite there is statistically a world extremely similar to one in the previous world. The people alive during the reset would carry over their memories, while people who died would just be 'recreated' via the big bang that created the new universe, and would therefore have no memories. This is consistent with what I read and mostly consistent with the wiki so it's what I go with, at least.
