Unless the wikia is grossly inaccurate, the rank war season is supposed to go until the end of April. Even if it is inaccurate, if the rank wars go until the end of March, that'd be another 6 rounds for Tamakoma-2.
The catch is that the away mission stuff isn't closely tied to the rank war season. It was going to start sooner than the end of the rank wars, and they didn't know how much sooner. Hence the need to make A-rank ASAP.

Kido has said his self that they have a selection process and osamu would have to meet criterias given before he can go. Kako said her self that she would try to go. Rank doesn't just guarantee you a spot. Definitely not one so low when there are so many A rank squads that could take your place if they want too.
