What ends up going over most of /a/'s heads is that the series sets up Chihiro as a female counterpart to Keima.
Keima rightfully calls out Chihiro as not really loving the guys she supposedly pines for, treating it as only a game to make her feel special in her boring unexciting life. Chihiro then turns it around and points out Keima literally does the exact same thing except with his video games, which drives Keima into something of an existential crisis.
Chihiro is the best girl for Keima. But of course most idiots on /a/ don't care about who's best for Keima, and only want their own personal best girl to win for no apparent reason.
