As far as I can tell that's essentially like a go-between for producers and the rest of the general staff of a show so it's like he got promoted and will be able to make even more demands for the show while at the same time contributing less in the actual directing scenes department. In any case the first season came out before industry started making constant stupid production decisions so I can't wait to see how differently it plays out and especially the soundtrack which will no doubt be several times more vocalized now.
